With all this discussion about presentation of rule sets I thought this was interesting: youtu.be/b3F7EOgtDbM?si=vVJdMSnBiOfx4RzNI have no connection at all with this team but coming from the US I thought that it gives a broad perspective. Also with a Warhammer background I was expecting the authors to be a bit biased. However, I was pleasantly surprised that: DBA - the oldest set of rules being reviewed was viewed very positively. There were no negative comments about the writing of DBA. Substance was preferred to style - it wasn’t all about presentation! The more “boutique” games were called out for what they are. ADLG was trashed as being only good for competitions. However, I note that Triumph was lumped in with the DBA rulesets. What does anyone else make of this? Anyone tried the other two recommended rulesets: Age of Hannibal and To the Strongest? Age of Hannibal is from Greg Wagman of Little Wars TV. You can see them in use in their Pyrrhic Wars campaign linkThey are based on Chipco's Fantasy Rules!, which borrowed and adapted some DBx ideas. Cheers Jim
Have had it on my wishlist for a while, should put my money down ...

This time of year I like to leave little hints around the house such as Rreading a particular wargame article where I know I can be seen Leaving mags open at advertising pages with stuff circled Not closing down websites on shared devices Leaving lists with my local gaming shop should anyone drop in Writing a list titled what want for x mass and taping ig to the fridge Sitting the family down and saying if you dont feel comfortable working out what I want just give me money and I will buy the bloody stuff myself So it is always with great anticipation I wake early on x mass Eve, making sure Santa ate the pies, drank the egg nog and gave the wonky carrots to his enslaved undying beasts of burden. I make enough noise to wake the household rush them through breakfast and get on to pressie opening. Ten min later I am crying in the bathroom with my new socks, another scarf despite steadfastly refusing to ever wear one and a book of golf jokes( stopped playing the game around 2010) Christmas it is a magical time for sure

"Bah humbug!"
(I once received a gift of a very handsome pair of cream - or were they beige? - knee-high walking socks for Christmas. I was about 15 at the time.)
Yup.

Am an old bachelor and live by myself. Have no one to blame. But good warm wool socks - if you're playing in garden shed or unheated basement, can give a +1 for morale checks.

Is there more info on that upcoming set of fantasy rules somewhere? Is there a playtest version or something? I am quite excited about this.

Late arrival (return) on the forum aaaaand... YES ! That's great news, i'm looking forward this DBF thing !
Will small-twelvish-element games be enjoyable ?
Is there a chance for DBF to hit the land for... say, Christmas ?
Anyway, great news, folks, thank you for the try, at the very least !

There are further details within an earlier post ‘A Special Announcement’ and we’re currently taking feedback on the Alpha version, with the aim to release the Beta version early in 2024… P

Thank you very much! Is there any chance to still become part of the playtest team?
I am very excited about this and can't wait to get my hands on those rules.

GW actually got me back into wargaming using their fantasy rules and figures. they then bought out Warhammer English Civil War, my favorite period. Try as hard as I could not like the rules. Something was not right.
My other go to period is the War of the Roses, and that was when I discovered DBA. Not looked at GW since.

I assume the silence means "no"?
