I notice some Wb heavy armies have low aggression so may often deploy first. Although choosing terrain they deploy first which allows your opponent to deploy after seeing you set up...how as the Wb player do you set up when your opponnents deployment is unkown to you?

I'm thinking that a Gallic army could be great fun, but being disadvantaged +3 to +5 in combat with the Roman infantry is a tough hill to climb. The quick kill outcome is great if it works...

Consider using a rear rank warband to increase the factor of the warbands to 4. If by chance you have a dismounted general in the front rank the warband factor is 5. If you manage a win the next combat will see the enemy overlapped.

The Gallic Army's Wb can be 3Wb fast and/or 4Wb solid. I like this flexibility. The 3Wb move faster but will recoil on ties in CC against solid foot and when effectively shot at. The 4Wb move slower but don't recoil on ties in CC with solid foot (and nobody is more solid than the Romans) so this will reduce the enemy's overlap potential. What type of Wb do most Gallic players go with?

You'd be surprised how the quick kill can distract the Roman player and cause them to hesitate. Play aggressively and try to make contact on your bound so you can choose the combats. Also, work on the flanks with your cavalry as that can also tip the balance in your favour. The Roman skirmishers can delay and disrupt you if used well. Finally, beware the triarii. Very tough to beat. Cheers Jim

Had a few games of my Ancient British vs Romans and then Welsh. Got beaten.
Then had a change of tactics, I took the British and placed them back in box, replaced them with HYW English Knights and Longbows.
Tactic worked well.

I'm sure that they're not the guaranteed "bulldozer army", or else everyone would be playing them. And that is certainly not the case.

I think the trick with the Wb army against Rome is to seize the initiative (i.e. you decide the time and place you want to fight) and just keep hammering till one of you breaks.
Gallic Ps are in short supply, so you don't care about making the Roman dance around. Just get in his face and start punching. Often you'll make the Roman player hesitate and be timid allowing you to keep pressing forward on your battle plan. Gallic Cv can threaten Roman flanks nicely as well leading to all manner indecision.
Love playing the Gauls against the Romans. Always a great game!
DBA 3 rewards aggressive play with the Wb armies against Bd heavy armies.

Are both element of warband destroyed on a double or just the front rank?

Just front rank, but watch out for front + flank contact.
