ALTON DBA 2024
(a Society of Ancients UK DBA League event)
Alton DBA 27th April 2024 is now OPEN TO BOOK.
Cost will be just £5 per player, but NB there will be limited places available (and they go really fast).
## Registration and pre-payment will be required, so please don't delay ##
TO SECURE YOUR PLACE, please email me on: smiffft@yahoo.co.uk (n.b. there are three f’s and a t ), or message via fanaticus or fb messenger, and I will pass you payment details. Same bank details as last year, if that makes it easier.
VENUE - CHAWTON VILLAGE HALL, nr ALTON, HANTS, nearest useful postcode = GU34 1SB (see note below).
Theme - ‘Light Horsing Around with Psiloi pSilliness’.
Every army must contain at least six LH or LCm and/or Ps, in any combination. The mandatory elements can be either solely with the main army or partly from an ally. BUT nb - your LH must remain mounted throughout, so no ‘Lithuanian LH dismounting as 3Bw’ for this event.
Format = “My Own Worst Enemy”
Each player brings a DBA army, of fixed composition, complying to the published theme, plus camp and a FIXED SET OF TERRAIN TO MAKE A LEGAL TERRAIN FOR HIS ARMY. (eg if arable, they might bring two plough, a road and a wood). Dismounting IS allowed – bring dismounted elements to use if appropriate.
· On Round One the player will use their own army. The next round the player will use their opponent’s army, then we alternate each round. Whichever army is the defender will be restricted to the terrain items brought by the defending army’s owning player, and the defender MUST attempt to place all items supplied. No changing of army composition or its associated terrain all day.
· With six rounds planned, this will mean three games will be with your own army, three with various opponents’ armies against your own.
· Match-ups will be randomly drawn at the start of the day, not Swiss Chess or knockout.
· 2ft boards will be used and supplied. Please bring your army, its terrain, camp, rules, dice etc etc., and a packed lunch to minimise down time.
NB - POSTCODE to arrive at Chawton Village Hall:-
Ignore the published postcode for the hall.
Instead, please use
GU34 1SB, The GREYFRIAR PUB
and then proceed 100m northeast (ie, looking at the pub, go LEFT) up the road to the venue. Plenty of parking at the venue or on the road outside.
