Ha!…I’ll tell you what I did. I cut the rear off of one ant, glued it to the front of another ant to replace it’s head, then added antennae and mandibles to this new head. The result?…you’ve now got a ant with a larger head than normal. (And a bigger head means a bigger brain, for its command & telepathic abilities)

In return I've got an idea for The Thing: hot glue on red coated wires might give a nice melted semitransparent and fleshy look...

Wow!…you knocked those out quickly Brian. I love ‘em. And I have a little tip for your table-top playing surface… …there is a company called “Rust-Oleum” that sells spray cans of what they call ‘black granite’, which gives a nice dappled ‘star field’ effect, with a rough mat texture that prevents sliding. See this → link

Wow!…you knocked those out quickly Brian. I love ‘em. ... Simple print'n'glue. Plus a simple paint job that even I could manage. All in all about two hours since the moment I had a plan? I love these Space Battle rules and especially your graphics too! Where did you get all those nice topdown views?

In my mind I hadn't progressed further than using rubber glue, copydex or somesuch. Cheers Stephen

Type star wars top down ships into google images. Hi Stevie I am going to prepare terrain pieces out of mdf and I was thinking about coating the undersides with something to stop them sliding about. Cheers Stephen From one Stevie to another, I think it would certainly help Gonatas. Imagine coarse sandpaper but more spread out, or perhaps the texture of fine tree bark. You’d certainly feel it if dragged over bare flesh, but bases would still lay almost flat on a table.

Thanks Stevie. And it had never occurred to me to drag bits and pieces of wargames paraphernalia over my bare flesh. I am now itching to try it....

Brian has done an excellent job of satisfying the needs of the “Star Wars” fans… …but let us not forget all those ‘Trekkies’ out there:-

Impressive, your star fleets!
I find the Borg even more menacing than the Death Star...
And the units really seem to float free, great look!

Very nice Brian. I have a couple of questions:- 1) Where did you get these figures? 2) How deep are they? (i.e. will they fit on 40mm square bases?). It’s just that you’ve given some ideas for a Doctor Who style Silurian Army, consisting of half the elements as tamed dinosaurs and the other half being Silurian (lizard) shooters with sonic weapons. These would make good opponents for U.N.I.T. lead by The Brigadier supported by the time travelling Doctor and his companion.

(One of my ants is missing, so I switched to them.) I chose the bigger ones and mounted them on 8cm deep bases, because they fit nicely to my 28mm HoTT armies. But I'm sure you'll find smaller ones. In most cases their tails will still be to long... Tamed dinosaurs, beautiful! You can build mounted troops...
