L'Art de la Guerre - 'peer pressure' - it's the most popular ruleset in the NYC - New Jersey - Philadelphia area, so yf you want to get a game together...

I also like OHW (Neil Thomas) rules, plus Bob Cordery’s Portable wargames in various forms (and Lion Rampant being prepped). Forgot to include… HotE Hott and just played Simplicity in Hexes (mid C18th).

2 x 2 Napoleonics by Rod Humble It is free. It is easy. It is fast. It follows history. It feels right. All in all simply a great war game. I discovered it with your post. Thanks !
I am playing also Bataille Empire, especiallly because it is the rule used by players around me.
And i probably will work on a HoTT/DBA variant for W40k, because i have many player of this around me.

Some friends in Ulm use 80mm BW (epic!) to base their W40k miniatures in HotT...

Some friends in Ulm use 80mm BW (epic!) to base their W40k miniatures in HotT... I was thinking about something like that, but vehicule are hard to fit on a 80 mm base. And they play on a 1,20m square ?

I've just dipped a toe in this to scratch a big-gun-naval-battle itch I've had for some time: broadsideempiresofsteel.com/I think it's quite neat. Concise rules, limited math, catches the flavour of the period and I don't have to roll on chart 8765a to determine the impact of the 3rd lieutenant's breakfast on a ship's gunnery.

WW2: Chain of Command in 28mm, also What a Tanker! for a bit of fast silly fun. Post-apocalyptic: Zona Alfa, inspired by the STALKER series of computer games, also in 28mm.
I tried Triumph! for a bit and while I really liked some of the ideas in it, there were quite a few that I didn't, so I haven't gone back. My copy of DBMM is sitting on the shelf, waiting for me to have the time, patience and mood to try it.
