Yes it impressed a few people that day. > > And it mentally scarred Mark S with it's amazing dice luck in the final game, which I think has used up it's lifetime of luck. ….ah, that was it! Didn’t play with or against it, but recalled it giving Mark S. a hard time via some totally improbably combat results 😱🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲

It was Libyans v Thebans
As I remember he was 3-2 up, contacted a Ps with a side supported Sp and hard flanked it with another Sp. The 6-1 on the die meant both Sp bounced. I then managed to kill one of his elements to make it 3-3 and thought my only hope was if he threw a 1 for PIPs, but he didn't. However the next round 5-1 dice score meant the Ps stood and in my bound my General took out a Ps for a very unlikely 4-3 win!
(Arnold Rimmer lives on!!) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Ovgnp2KXk)
If you ask Mark what the odds were he'll probably be able to tell you as he worked it out.
The Ps has now been retired to the Hall of Fame!

Today, my father presented me with some very old 20 & 25mm Fantasy figures that had been under the bed for the past 40 years! If anyone would like to take them off me at Britcon, let me know - they’re a real eclectic mix, painted in Humbrol, old school style, and free to a good home 🏡 😉

"Is he really the best that is available?" asked the King. The King of Other, his Counsellors and assorted experts were holding a Council of War in the Room of the Red Jade Fan. Worrying news had reached the King from his Diviners, Soothsayers and Astrologers and action was required. The Diviners had divined, the Soothsayers had soothed and the Astrologers…. well one of them had seen something iffy in the constellation of the Winged War Chariot and, on balance, they thought that it was better to share. They all agreed on two things. The first was that in 480 years something big would happen. The second was that, in 2,502 years hence, wise and worthy people would congregate to commemorate the battles that had been fought 480 years before that big thing. The King had immediately asked "Why not 2,500 years? What is the reason for the extra two years". "We believe sire that this could be due either to a rounding error in our calculations, or, possibly, to pestilence" Regardless it was clear that war was coming and battles would be fought. They needed to be ready. The army had been recruited, put on alert and was training hard (though the varnish on the chariots was still a bit sticky). It was though in desperate need of a decent General. It seemed though that all the good ones had been taken. For example Hai Flung Dae, the lucky brother of the General the Council were discussing, was already contracted to one of the major league Kingdoms of the South - Wu or Yueh or something or maybe it was the other Wueh round. The fact was that there was only one miserable candidate left on the market "How will we pay him?" asked the King. "We are not made of money and it seems that this General is not that much good". The Treasurer stepped forward and said "Your Serene Majesty I would propose that we pay the General in what we call 'virtual currency'. That is currency that exists only among the workings of the abaci in the office of the Accountants in your Majesty's Counting Houses. The General, though occasionally wise in matters of war, knows nothing of finance and I am sure can be convinced that virtual gold will be more useful than bags of the real stuff" "That sounds promising. What is this Virtual thing called" "With Your Exalted Majesty's permission I would humbly suggest that we call it 'Britcon'" "Let's have him then" said the King. His mind made up. And with this less than ringing endorsement the die was cast and Lo Dae Chuk was going to war. "Oh", said the King. "Let him take that rather promising young University student lad. The one whose grandad wrote a book. You know - the one with top marks in Calligraphy, Poetry and Applied Warfare. He could probably benefit from some work experience".
"I will make it so" said the Treasurer.
To be continued.....

My EAP lads are a bit upset, they thought a pre battle perfume and beard oiling was incoming. Instead they are still stuck int loft, sharing a box with some Philistines and Goth types.
Tomorrow they will be brought down and dumped into a travel box.
If they do well of course they could get their own storage box, maybe a nice horse or two.
