My initial reaction is that £25 seems a lot, particularly as you have to spend another £5 to get the £5 trade voucher.
In the past they charged us £13, which compared to most of the other DBA competitions was more than double anywhere else, now it's double that!
If other people feel the same I'd be happy to explore an alternative venue in Sheffield to get the cost down, if people felt it was too much to pay but wanted to keep the competition???

Hi Mark,
I'd rather we didn't set up an alternative around the same time, particularly as people are beginning to commit, as that would dilute the pool of possible participants. Britcon is different to the other tournament only gigs such as Bakewell, Alton and the others. There is the lunch and voucher to take into account - and prizes as well of course (provided by Britcon sponsors) account. A new Sheffield based tournament would be great but we should look for a gap in the calendar.
Kind regards
Simon

The price includes show entry, packed lunch and £5 trader voucher valid against a ten pound spend. Interest? Simon From the BHGS site , DBA competitors pay a reduced rate, which includes a "grab bag" lunch. The DBA entry fee does not include the "Britcon Fiver" £5 trader voucher. DBA one-day Entry Ticket 15mm- £25 (includes grab-bag lunch and a £5 voucher to spend with any trader a the trade show) So does it include the £5 voucher or not ?

When I typed my response I hadn't realised others had already signed up (it took me a while as I was playing an on line game with friends so didn't see the other replies before I pressed 'send'). I wasn't suggesting an alternative but, as the price is between 2 and 5 times more what people usually pay for other DBA competitions, I thought if people considered it was too much to pay, perhaps we could move the competition to a location which would be cheaper. I guess we've perhaps been spoilt by people such as yourself, the Martin's, Pete, Paul etc who run competitions that aren't looking to make a profit.

Thanks Mark. Let's see how things are looking a bit nearer the time.
Cheers

25 quid!…that’s 5½ pints of wicked strength cider! Oh well, it’s only once a year. Stevie will just have to be semi-sober for a change. 🍺
Actually, as I live in the Nottingham area, I’ll save money on petrol, so it’s all swings and roundabouts really. (at least, it is for me)
