Goop has been applied and the base coat has been painted onto the textured base. After gardening duties I'll do the 2 drybrush layers and apply flocking and tufts. Before moving on to the 2 command elements I'll take a slight detour and paint up figures for an east Asian baggage element that will accompany the Baekche when they march out for Collision Course in May. Cheers, The 1x4Bd element is now complete. Work has started on the baggage element with figures assembled, where required, glued to painting nails, primed and flesh colour has been applied. This major project is inching its way to a conclusion. Only the 2 command elements to go. Cheers, The East Asian baggage element was completed today. Tomorrow I'll start on the figures for the 1x4Kn (G) and 1x3Cv (G) elements of the Three Kingdoms of Korea armies. Cheers,

Still cracking on with the Roman's, taking em off the bases I note some areas of paintwork that needs touching up but not much and at arms length they will look great.

A visit from the out-laws over Easter has put a crimp in the painting for this extra long weekend - but in the lead up I did manage
3xPs for the Elamites 1x4Bw and 1xCm for the Christian Nubian
The Nubians are now legal (in that I can field a legal 12 element army from what is painted). They are just a whisker from being battle ready and if I manage that by next month then this will be the army I take to collision course if the number of entries is odd.
Cheers

So today's task is to attempt 2 banners for the Baekche Koreans. Cheers,

Spurred on by a recent discussion of Marian Romans in the “lead pile”, I cleaned 41 foot and 11 mounted of the second Baueda army pack, ordered in November of last year. These are now ready for an undercoat. While cleaning them, I recalled another Italian manufacture with a similar style and size, Strategia Nova. Their range is limited, but each figure come in a wide variety of poses. Legionnaires, Ligurian and Spanish auxiliaries have basic painting applied. Detailing tomorrow and hopefully by the end of the day 41 infantry will be done. Cavalry next week. The second command is based and ready for ground, grass and tufts. First battle is already planned.

Started painting up some Kushite skirmishers after not painting anything in nearly a month!
After painting almost every single day for the past five years, this has been quite the time off and thought starting with two figures with barely anything, seemed like a good way to get back into it.

28mm Vikings, III/40b, using mainly Gripping Beast plastic figures, but with metal figures for the General's element.
One down and 49 to go. (I'm not planning to bother with the 3Wb and 3Ax options.)

Progress on my I/2 OKE 1 stand each of 4bw and 3bd - menfat finished before a week off in Scotland where no painting is allowed so the wife tells me!. - I’d forgotten how nice chariot (magiter militium) figures were to paint.
Cheers and enjoy the long weekend - at least in England anyway

A big day at the table today
Earlier in the week I began the process of soaking some old figures off their bases to begin the process of scrap building two armies with as much as possible coming from existing boneyarded figures - so today I stuck the following to new bases and thus kicked off the scrap build
II/5b Athenian 2xSp, 3xPs, 1x3Bw, 1xCv, 1xLH
III/42b Sha-To Turkish 1xCv(gen), 1xLH, 1x3Bd, 1x4Cb, 1x3w, 2xSp, 2x3Pk, 3xPs
Then with that done I sat down to paint my current projects and finished off
1xLCm, 1x4Bd, 1x4Bw for the Christian Nubian - the army is now Battle Ready - I can field my preferred 12 element army. Assuming I don't get distracted, this means once these three elements are based I can field the Christian Nubian at Collision Course if there is an odd number of entries. 1x4Pk and 2xPs for the Antigonids 1xCP for the Post Mongol Samurai - this strip has been underway for a ridiculous amount of time and since I started it I have started and completed many other (easier) strips.
Cheers

Finished the two horde elements for the 'early' Scots Common army. But most of the last three weeks has been putting gloop on bases.

Today I had mostly new strips to paint so did a mass production stint of Wood/Metal/Flesh on those.
I did finish off the El for my Antigonids
