Salutations, Baldie ! The coins under elements in some of the pictures = USA 25-cent pieces = quarter-dollars, or 'quarters'. Exactly 25mm diameter, bit less than 1 inch, commonly used in pictures to give indication of scale. Also bad pun. Hope y'all are staying healthy and happy. I look incredibly miserable most of the time which is unusual as i am generally upbeat. Think it is a jowel thing.

Painting some ECW cavalry (NOT ANCIENTS !!! heretic! I hear you cry), as 4Kn for Pete D's DBTR DBA ECW variant (plus for Portable Wargame ECW variant by Alan Saunders).
Just finishing the Cuirassiers (Hazelrig's boys/various lifeguards....no cornet/flag, so multipurpose), Peter Pig figures.....to be based today, I hope, once the varnish has finished drying and stinking the airing cupboard out 😊
And now starting some Harquebusiers (regular cavalry types), to be based as 4Kn for New Model regiments- these are old Jacobite Miniatures figures*, long since out of production, bought from Mark Johnson, and collected at Hammerhead. Had to replace all the sword blades (too skinny moulds, snapped off), but they're showing promise.
* I have a few others from Jacobite, bought about 30+ years ago, and was surprised to see them show up on e.bay, and even more surprised when it turned out I knew the seller AND we were both due at the Northern Cup a few weeks after the auction....fate, mate.

Nice solid paint job on those Britons, jdesmond. Definitely a nice gift for your friend. I see that those Britons I traded you were well taken care of.
For my part, just finished painting and glued to bases two KN elements for the 'c' list of my Feudal Spanish. Irregular HR-37s.
While working on them it dawned on my that I hadn't included any of the military religious orders yet. Definitely needed to have some for the Reconquista. So looking at the online excerpts of Ian Heath's Armies of Feudal Europe i decided to paint up an element of the Knights of Santiago (my given name having nothing to fo with that...). Interestingly Heath noted that in the illustrations of Las Cantigas de Santa Maria c.1284 that the Santiagan knight was clothed in a faded red surcoat and that the device depicted on his shield and helm was not the Order's Cross of Saint James, but a cross botonee (aka the Cross of Lazarus) with white scallops at the finials and center.
So, for amusement, thinking that might well be field rather cloister, I went with that for my knights.
Someone with knowledge to the contrary can correct me.
One caveat is that a number of other knights were illustrated with white surcoats and horse caparisons with black Cross of Lazarus devices. None of the Spanish Orders had a black cross that I am aware of, and if Teutonic Knights were involved (as were Hospitalers and Templars) in the Reconquista, their device would (I believe) at that time still have been plain.

Is that then later, Swiss or just later Swiss.
I based up some tanks and finished off a T26 for my Soviets.
More EW Germans started and had a tidy up, found my EIR box and my Macedonians languishing in their holding centre, I also found some Swiss to finish a Lart force.

League of Constance ( Burgundian Wars) Swiss. Though I am adding French Ordonnance of Francis 1st so in time I will also start adding some early Italian Wars Swiss. ( gonna use my Mirliton Swiss models for them). BTW... I notice that I'm unable to add photos via attachment anymore. It says forum limit has been reached. Has non URL uploading of photos been disabled ( or am I just doing it wrong? I try to resize pics to below 1MB)

Much of my weekend was spent finishing off the basing of what had been painted during last weekend and photographing the completed Italian Lombard army for the Book of Face.
With that done I did finish up another element of Cv in the long running task of bringing my Mamluk Egyptian up to Purple Standards
Cheers

Last night I finished the last element (4Bw) for my Eastern Patrician Roman as well as two more Ps elements for an Early Imperial Roman. The long process to bring all of my old stable of armies up to DBA3 standard continues.
In a responsibly socially isolated Easter Weekend I can hope that the Early Imperial Romans and Feudal French join the ranks of the purple compliant. Adding in the completion of the Beja and East Frankish (new armies) soon after and I will be way to putting the next 25 armies into "My Little Sample"
Cheers

With the Anglo-Saxon finished, I've moved onto the start of the 2024 Northern Cup project, with 13 new armies to paint and 5 to modify and upgrade. Started yesterday with the II/23a Later Pre-Islamic Arabs and have just finished the 1xLCm and 2xPs elements. 4xCm next on the painting table...

Oh, yes, but an exciting one. Lots of armies that have been on my ‘to do’ list for sometime and I’ve given myself plenty of time - just averaging over 3 armies a year... P

That is a solid pace. It seems your process reminds me of mine in that I like to collect armies around a central matched theme. ATM I'm painting 'The allies and enemies of the Spider king' ( late 15th Century protagonist armies of the factions Western European politics)
