Silly question about columns. If an element hits a column head on and recoils the lead element, does the entire column recoil or is the lead element destroyed because it can’t force more than 1 element back (assume No inter penetration) and so cannot recoil and is this destroyed.

Simon "You know you're thinking about DBA too much when..." Actually I'm going to be playing in my first DBA 3.0 tourney in Sacramento on Sunday, and want to make sure I don't embarrass myself. Also, picking between Later Carth a, and b. The elephants, spears, and LH are so fun fun fun, but I might just go with the 6Sp version just so I don't get confused.

Keep in mind that if the column is only two elements deep then the conclusion above does hold. Only if the column was three or more elements deep.

My first and only tournament I entered in (last year at Cangames), I decided it was more important to learn as much of the wrinkles of the rules than win games, so I picked as many different terrain pieces as I could, even when my opponent was scratching his head wondering what the heck I was thinking.
I didn't win a single game, but had fun!

It’ll do a job, but it’s just not quite right... P

Carthage has got to be the most popular, hardest to win with army in DBA.

Greedo, Sadly Tony is 100% right. If you want to play Carthaginians and have fun then choose the El options BUT IMHO the Carthaginians actually play better with the Cav options and even then they are tough to win with because of harmonising many working parts. However very pretty!

Carthage has got to be the most popular, hardest to win with army in DBA. Funny you and Paddy mention this. Tony, it was your youtube video of Carthage vs Rome that gave me pause. You guys spoke about how Carthage was hard to play. I also haven't finished painting my gauls, so it'll be 3x4Ax, which seem to be pretty weak outside of rough terrain. That said, it would be a shame not to play with all the toys, even if all I do is learn how NOT to use them

Just remember it wasn't the army that made Hannibal great, it was Hannibal himself.
