Greedo, ive read his Legion versus Phalanx and found it quite engaging. I'd be interested in reading your thoughts on his take on the Spartans. Cheers, That other book is on my reading list, so will likely pick it after i'm done. Thanks for the mini review

Looking at the sources used for Bohemond of Taranto by Georgios Theotokis, I found other titles written by him.
Has anyone here read these and care to comment on them?
Byzantine Military Tactics in Syria and the Mesopotamia in the Tenth Century The Norman Campaigns in the Balkans 1081 – 1108

It is in English; a thoroughly detailed, well referenced source, and quite interesting if you like reading this kind of thing (as I do).

The Balkan campaign is covered in the book I am currently reading, however, this is done in 43 pages as compared to the 278 pages in your copy. Both are available from Amazon UK and the first title has made its way to the Christmas list. www.amazon.co.uk/Byzantine-Military-Tactics-Mesopotamia-Century-ebook/dp/B07JYKB2CB/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Georgios+Theotokis&qid=1634107370&s=books&sr=1-1

After a hiatus with regard to reading, I've started on the 2nd installment of the Titus Chronicles by R.W. Peake. In this series Peake has skipped half a millennium plus, and numerous generations of the Titus dynasty, to locate the action in Anglo-Saxon England during the reign of Alfred the Great. Once again, a rollicking good read. Cheers, I finished this book yesterday and I must say that I'm enjoying Peake's foray into the Dark Ages. Next up is Camelot as recommended by Macbeth. Cheers,

After finishing "King's Shilling" as the weekend drew near I then read "Medieval Military Dress" by Christopher Rothero, part of the Blandford Colour series - small hardbacks that have colour plates and some descriptive text.
I have now just started "Long Reach" by Mike Lunnon-Wood - a modern military thriller (okay so set last century (late 90s)) about the British Army fighting against Guatemala in Belize.
Not much reading today because I put in a mammoth effort at the painting table this afternoon.
Cheers

On Saturday I read the last chapters of 'Long Reach', quite enjoyable and am now a couple of chapters in to 'The Last Viking' by Don Holloway - the Osprey published biography of Harald Hadrada.

Finish reading “Bohemond of Taranto” by Georgios Theotokis which has me looking for similar works about Robert Guiscard and Emperor Alexios I Komnenos.

I did a bit of book buying on Friday picking up three new books including 'Fake History' by Otto English. I couldn't stop myself from flicking through and so started reading it properly on Saturday. Not a bad read, although some of his chapters do read like some of my humourous history rants after a couple of glasses of wine.
Now I'm back to reading "The Last Viking"
Cheers
