Hi Tony, I assume the above applies to single element contacting single element, or group contacting group?
For a group contacting a single element, it is not the contactors that have to do any conforming, as I see it.

I think all even FAQ committee have agreed that a single element contacted on its side rear conforms into a legal contact position at contact but waits to fully conform by turning to face until the end of bound. Its a bit of a text stretch but it works.
The conform as much as possible is a bit more controversial. I'm a firm believer that DBX mechanics works much better if the element required to conform does so as much as possible and then if unable to fully conform the opposing element finishes the conform or fights as if overlapped.
FAQ committee does not universally agree so I would prefer to keep this as just a TomT GM interp. (So you are free to ignore).
