They look great. Maybe the look of the bases could be enhanced by adding the occasional spot of grass flocking. Thanks. At some point, I will be making tufts of static grass & adding them to the bases.

Just completed (except for flock) an early Napoleonic Austrian army for HFG/DBA-HX: I used 2 boxes of Victrix 1800-1805 plastic Austrians. The rest are Perry metals. The French are still being painted. More here.

We are planning 3 events for DBA 3.0 in 28mm for HMGS Little Wars, actual times TBD:
Battle of the Sabis River, Friday afternoon April 28:
57 BC – Rome is at war with the Belgic tribes in Northern Gaul. Julius Caesar's army has begun encamping near the Sabis River, when the massed tribes of the Nervii come screaming out of the woods to attack the unsuspecting Romans. This is a "Giant DBA" scenario. 8 players will command at least 12-15 elements of troops. Inexperienced players are welcome.
Battle of Chalons, Saturday morning April 29:
451 AD- Attila the Hun's army, including vassal Ostrogoths & Gepids, are looting & pillaging Roman Gaul. A coalition army under the Roman General Flavius Aetius, including Visigoth & Alan allies, meet Attila to do battle on the Catalaunian Fields near modern day Chalons. This is a "Big Battle DBA" scenario. 6 players will command at least 12-15 elements of troops. Inexperienced players are welcome.
Battle of Nedao, Saturday afternoon April 29:
454 AD – Attila is dead. His sons struggled for supremecy, with Ellac emerging as king. However, Attila's former vassals have used the opportunity of his death to rebel. The rebel's combined army of the Gepids, Ostrogoths, & Rugians, under Ardaric's leadership, meet the Ellac's Hun army near the Nedao River in the Balkans. This is a "Big Battle DBA" scenario. 6 players will command at least 12-15 elements of troops. Inexperienced players are welcome.

The figures come with a lot of small parts to put together...shields, bow cases, sheathed swords, separate arms, & weapons. They look good when assembled.

Nice report. What were the composition of the commands?

The river wasn't much of an obstacle at all. It prevented subsequent moves across. We may consider a -1 BW penalty next time. The rocky areas penalized mounted. There is an escarpment on the Persian side of the river at the bottom of the low hill that gave defenders a +1. If the game had gone on, the advantage was to the Persians, as Nabarzane's command was in a position to flank the phalanx. Another effect we may try is for the Elite/Mediocre grading, where we may try Joe Collins' idea of a 12 sided die using 1,1,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,5,6,6 for Elite, & 1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,6,6, for Mediocre.

We were going by Jeff Jonas' deployment diagram, but should have realized it would just lengthen the game.

We just did a BBDBA refight of Issus & decided to make the Hypaspists Spear in clear terrain and 4Auxilia in DG or BG. We had 3 elements of Hypaspists, so as Spear, they get a +1 for side support. When they enter DG or BG, they revert to 4Ax. We also thought of using Joe Collins' idea of the 12 sided die for elites (with 1,1,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,5,6,6), and also allowing the Hypaspists the option of recoiling up to 1 BW.
