We'll stick a candle in a Brownie for you! Hey, I don’t want short changing here - I want a Brownie with a candle in for each of the 21 years I’ve been on this planet 😉🎂 One candle for each lot of 21 years. That'll be three candles then.

After 5 months of working on the DBF 28mm ‘Battle of the Bastards’ project, I’m returning home to my 15mm lead pile… hope to start work on the Attalid Pergamene army, purchased from Magister Militum last year before they wound down their business… I’m looking at the Light Horse and thinking ‘how do I paint something so small…?’!! 😂😂😂 P Knock out a few bases of 6mm. They won't take long and afterwards you'll be amazed how big the 15mm figures are.

Brian Ború If you are looking for a QRS for DBA, I can recommend the one on the Society of Ancients website (https://soa.org.uk/joomla/publications). Menacus S

"There is no 6Wb in DBA3 and only one army with 6Bd" 6wb is shorthand for doubled 3wb, like 8pk is shorthand for doubled 4pk. So, for consistency, is 6Bd shorthand for doubled 3Bd? And if one has four lots of 6Wb is that 4 elements or 8? This seems to complicate rather than simplify.

I'll introduce myself here by showing just how far and fast I've fallen down the DBA/HOTT rabbit hole. I have packs for II/5c, f, and h coming from Museum Miniatures taking advantage of their sale and see how good those Z line figures are; they have been sitting in customs for a few days now. I also ordered packs or Meerkatmen and Mongeese from Magister Militum since their survival is apparently in question; a Meerkat army will help get my wife to play and preserve interest for my daughter. The Mongeese are just too cool to not get & right up the alley of a friend who's interested in playing. I bought enough figures for a II/73 Saxons second hand from someone at the local club. Welcome. I'm afraid you have a lot further to fall. For a start your Saxons are going to need an opponent: Middle Imperial Romans (II/64a) might be fun; or perhaps one of the Sub-Roman British (II/81).

Forged in Battle have announced that they are having a January sale; 20% off if one uses the code JAN2024 at the checkout. I assume this runs until 31st Jan, but the announcement doesn't actually say.

7hd would also include axe armed units, 6bd and 6wb. There is no 6Wb in DBA3 and only one army with 6Bd. I'm not sure that army (Early Swiss) justifies making all the other 7Hd a super troop type.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly. I thought new and varied rules are the very definition of house rules. House rules are, by and large, minor modifications to a set of rules rather than a complete or substantial rewriting.

Well funny you should mention that; just booked the Roman army exhibition tickets - traded the Macedonian Parthenon for a trip to the BM. It’s also cost me a show in London……not the best trade I’ve ever done. K I am hoping to get along to the BM myself, but I'll have to see how things go.

Perhaps you could tip him to win the Northern Cup? That should bring him back down to earth. Well, he’s overdue a victory there… 😂 P The magic words. My job here is done.

Following the third round at Slimbridge last Saturday, here's the updated league tables: Position Name Total points Tournaments Best placing 1 Paul Hodson 45 2 1 2 Martin Smith 37 3 2 3 Pete Duckworth 33 2 1 ............ Camel-riding General, Paul Hodson, starting the season strongly ;-) P. Perhaps you could tip him to win the Northern Cup? That should bring him back down to earth.

Further ruling from the Vexillum Minimus Boundary Commission as at 8/1/2024. 2/52 Dacian with Sarmatian ally accepted (following hefty tribute paid by owner.........) Can it safely be assumed that other already confirmed eligible armies may also therefore bring Sarmatian allies where listed? Only if they outbid the Dacians who have first claim on their services otherwise.
