Thanks.
It is difficult to see from the photos but the 3Wb have an axeman or two on the base while the 3Ax don't. This is OK if I either want either all 3Wb or 4 x 3Wb and 4 x 3Ax. If i wanted a different combination, I guess I would need to add a pebble or other small marker to the base.

The rule for contacting an enemy from pursuit "If a pursuing element's front edge contacts enemy or its front corner contacts an enemy front edge, they line up immediately as if contact was by a tactical move, but the resulting combat is resolved next bound. " So in the original question, how would Knight A1 line up with B2 if this were a tactical move? Ignore B1 and B3 (would exert TZ). The situation follows the contact rules from tactical moves. I would say that B2 turns to face. TZs do not impact outcome moves. Regards Simon

Not sure about that Bob. I read it literally - so if any front edge of the pursuer contacts an enemy (no mention of legal) then they line up as if it were a legal contact. This means we avoid the strange situation of a blood-thirsty pursuer stopping short because he can't make a "legal" contact.

Does the last sentence of the Pursuing paragraph on page 12 also suggest that the elements should line up and fight thge next bound?
"If a pursuing element's front edge contacts enemy or its front corner contacts an enemy front edge, they line up immediately as if contact was by tactical move, but the resulting combat is resolved next bound."

Although for a very different period (WW1), Peter Pig's excellent Square Bashing rules have the interesting concept of "reluctant dismounters" - those horsemen who were far too haughty to get off their arses and fight on foot. They need a D6 4+ to dismount.
Cheers

Having an interest in WW1 I down loaded Command and Colours The Great War from Steam for £14.99 (alot cheaper than the £50 for the board game). Richard Borg designed the game and Hexwar developed it for PC. I have played Command and Colours Napoleonic so I understand the concept. The game is very well presented and works well with good effects. For the price it's worth trying out I have been playing a lot of Peter Pig's Squarebashing rules recently - also well worth looking into if you are interested in the period. There are some pics and links to battle reports on my blog at derwentgamer.wordpress.com/Regards Simon

Simon, What scoring system will you use? Unless there are howls of protest, I intend to use a slight variation of the Northern cup rules as follows: 4 points for a victory 0 point for a defeat 0 point for a drawn/unfinished game +1 point for each enemy element destroyed +1 point for enemy general destroyed +1 point for enemy camp captured In addition, and further to feedback from the Bakewell event, - no dismounting! Regards Simon
