Finished Georg von Frundsberg, who is the general figure for the Kn stand of the IV/13d list I am building. Miniature is made by Gladiator miniatures and I have had him for over two decades. Very nice! I’ve just finished basing my Low Countries (Ghent) Army......now where is my camera?

Let’s look on the bright side. If it means that Colnel Bills will stock Black Hat then it is a win-win! That's the intention. But it will take time to organise items for sale at Colonel Bill's. Great! Colonel Bill already takes the majority of my hard earned cash at shows. Might as well make it a one stop shop! Nice bloke, good banter, stocks the figures I like......‘nuff said. If he fan give me a Gladiator fix as well then that is a bonus. Paddy

Thanks Redrob. I’m all over those flags for my Crécy HYW English Army .... just hit the painting table today!
My Low Countries (Ghent) Army just got glued to its bases today - with the exception of the organ gun and Halberdiers. Looking good! Think I’m just a saddo with a flag fetish from the look of them. That said a really colourful Army that I can’t wait to showcase.

I dream of that result - my experience is the opposite! Last year my 8 years of working away from home and weekending it came to an end - so I lost my “Man Cave” flat that had a painting table and gaming table permanently set up and a TV with back to back documentaries and war films playing. Returned home to get all my stuff relegated to the garage with only a small painting box allowed in the house and can only be accessed when the long haired general is at the gym. I’m now forced to watch “Bake Off” - sad days indeed!

There always was a lot of collaboration between Black Hat and Fighting 15s. I remember them sharing stands at shows.

Looking good Goragrad. I’m on my hols at the moment so progress on mine has stopped. However, I’m pretty much there with the crossbow, plan on and knights and have done a third of the Pike.
Red or black pikes - hmmmm ...... maybe for the flag bearers - which will be close to half. However, mine will have standardised uniforms - which look great en mass.

I’ve found the Thessalians very hard to win playing the 4 x LH option but deadly with the 4 x Cav option. The Sp work well to pin an opposition down but you need the hitting power of the LH is just not enough to exploit it.
Where I do think LH armies (and here I mean Skythians with an all mounted option) are good is where they hold up the front of opposing forces while flowing around other armies to exploit weak flanks and broken lines etc. Need the PIPs though.
I want to try Parthians with the 4 x Kn and 8 x LH option - that combines muscle with guile.

I use Alternative Armies, Medus MEC24 14THC HOBILAR as the horse is small and looks unkempt.

I base coat to suit the figures and the majority colour they are. My Teutonics were base coated white, Islamic Berbers were base coated black and Mongols will probably get base coated brown. Mediaevals normslly get a black base coat as dry brushing steel gives a really good mail effect.

What do you guys think about using allies with the II/12 Alexandrian Macedonian? My thoughts are that having two spear might be effective as a fighting force. So, the army would look something like ... <core> 1 x 3Kn/general (Alexander) 1 x 4Ax (hypaspists) 1 x LH (Thracians w/ javelins) 6 x 4Pk (phalangites) <Thessalian allies> 1 x Cv 2 x Sp Basically, this is trading away a 2nd 4Ax and Ps for two Sp at the cost of PIP efficiency. I think the 2 x Sp would be more effective than what is given up, but is it worth the price? I’m on holiday so can’t access the purple.....so please take these thoughts with a pinch of salt and check them. My thoughts about Alexandrian Army is that the 6 x Pk is too numerous and reduces the Army frontage too much so you are always overlapped. Then the Cav is insufficient to do damage and the Hypaspists as 4 Ax are too weak. So if you can loose the Hypaspists and 2 x Pk and replace then with 1 x Cav and 2 x Sp then in my view the Army would be stronger. Would this be possible? Paddy

.....but you are really getting on with it - most impressive!
Whenever I repaint I tend to mix my in new figures - so I have to lift them from original bases as well.

.....so that is 10 commands - each of which is effectively a DBA Armies. That is a very good painting rate even if you are ‘only’ repainting the skins. Well done that man.
