You have carefully selected your army, lovingly prepared it, planned your tactics, travelled, removed vast quantities of your friends' elements and been declared event winner!
What would you most like to take away with you to commemorate your victory?

Happy Birthday to Richard Pulley, CG on this forum, as he achieves the mighty age of "X" years old.... (He still won't let on....!!). Have a great day Martin Don't know about X. Last time I asked him he told me to go to L. So we'll just have to C. But Happy Birthday nonetheless. (Roman numerals used throughout.) XLent and many Happy Returns to the mighty Mr Gothicus!

Knights are still strong, just a slightly riskier proposition. I would not penalise the first elephant lost; they are not SO strong. Just try 6Kn! In fact I am not sure I am in favour of any of the proposals made so far. i think it is fast foot movement that is imbalanced. I would propose fast foot movement is reduced by 1BW in rough or bad going, with the possible exception of Psiloi. I would also make Littoral landings deploy at the same time as the rest of the army before anyone rolls PIPs.

Just to add my thanks to all the good words above, especially to Alan and all the Crusade organisers.
The new venue was a light, warm, airy improvement on the squash courts of old! The ease of parking tempted me off the train and into the car.
I took Thracians with EIR allies. I thought they'd be unexpected and not so weak, with a Knight General, two light horse, Five fast auxilia and a Psiloi, with two solid blades and a knight to support. I was looking forward to laying down lots of terrain. I invaded four times out of six! At least with so many troops allowed out wide I could mass on one side to attack.
First up were Steve Aspinalls Early Crusaders. I was not too hopeful, but managed to swamp his missile troops with auxilia on the left, lock his supporting spears in place with a Psiloi sent around the back and almost hold my own in the centre. An unexpected Thracian victory!
Next an invasion of Bill's Chou China. I amassed on the left and relied on quick kills whilst Bill wheeled his left around. No luck with the quick kills and with the Chinese sharp shooters also doing well the Thracians were sent packing.
Final group game and at last I defended. A steep hill on my right and a fort to the left of centre led to a stand off against the invading Parthians. A bold attack by my combined Knight between hill and fort and auxilia vs. Light horse on the right went Thrace's way for another convincing victory. Pleased with a group second place.
On to the plate. James' oriental elephant parade. I invaded and took the fight to the lumbering pachyderms with auxilia and Psilo. Light horse clashed with Spear on the left and I was thankful the enemy knights were screened for so long on their left by their own bows. My light horse closed the door time and again on an isolated Blade at the board edge, but couldn't finish it off. An elephant finally succumbed, but only served to let the Knights through...The Roman knights charged an isolated Blade on the left and promptly died on a tie. Things started going badly on the Thracian right, so the General charged in on that lonesome Blade, lightning couldn't strike twic could it?....oh yes it could!
Martin Smith's Bretons invaded the Thracian foothills next. A rushed game due to the terrain and plate time limit, but a 2-1 draw at the close. The Thracian casualty was once again a Roman Knight tied with a Viking blade!
Finally an invasion of Scott's Classical India. I amassed on the left happily taking light horse and cavalry on with auxilia. Good use of the road allowed my blades to cut a hole in the Indian line, where Bow were lurking and enough damage was done before the elephants and heavy chariots could reverse matters. A win to go home on!
Great to see so many turn up. Looking forward to next year already. Thanks all.

Bob, I run a Scramble in the UK, the Tarrington Tourney. Players bring an army with specific legal terrain and board. The players and pool of armies brought each compete in their own Swiss Chess format. In round 1 players fight against the army they brought; in the last round (6 in this case) players use their own army. In the meantime, armies are allocated to players to maximise the number of different armies they use and fight against. When using an army, if it defends, all of the terrain supplied with it and the board size specified must be used. I have run it for six years. It is a real challenge, you never know what you will have to deal with from round to round, with own army, opposing army and terrain out with your control! Happy to answer any additional specific questions.

Coda:
Unable to participate in my own theme, I was also unable to return the trophy. That was rectified today and to mark the occasion a small themed three-way even was staged.
My Anglo-Danes with Welsh allies invaded Russia! You wouldn't have thought so as they ran a Spear shieldwall between two woods, stationed the Blades in reserve, marked the right hand wood with Welsh Warband, whilst the Welsh Cavalry played backstop rear right...and waited. The Russians advanced with Spears in the centre flanked on both sides by Knights. Light Horse covered the left flank and Psiloi the right. Ultimately the Russian General committed with one Spear and one Knight. The General carved a hole in the shieldwall, whilst his support bounced off. A grave British Blade advanced to engage and promptly despatched the Russian General. The resulting Move starvation let the Anglo-Danes in, finishing 4-3, or 3G-3 in old speak.
Next up, Arnaud's Leidang invaded Russia. The Russian left was refused due to their Light Horse keeping out of Norse Bow range. Action started on the Russian right, but with early Norse gains as a Knight took out a Spear. The centre go messy. A Leidang Bow fended off a double Knight attack several times over and the Russians lost narrowly as Knight tied with a Blade!
Finally the Leidang invaded Britain. Too many terrain sixes meant a small edifice and a road were all that adorned a smooth green grassy plain. The Spear shieldwall ran with the left flank anchored by Welsh Warband in the Bad Going, Blades once more in reserve. The Leidang went wide to their left with Knight General, Bow and fast Blade. The British shieldwall extended to counter, but a shortage of PIPs at the wrong time led to a hole. Nonetheless, the Leidang Blades all bounced. On the right a British Blade pursued into trouble, whilst on the left a Spear recalled to clip the bad going. The ensuing opportunities were exploited to the full and Arnaud's Leidang were victorious once more, 4-0.
The trophy was duly awarded to the deserving champion.
