The rules state that an element of Bows cannot shoot if they moved greater than 1 BW.
Does this also apply to Mounted Longbows?
Thanks

I had time today to try out the DBA WW2 rules kindly forwarded to me by hammurabi70. I have to say they are just what I was looking for. Plays fast and gives satisfying results. That sounds good Cromwell. I see you have some 2mm WW2 images on your website. Are those old/previous images, or images of “this” game? I’m curious to see the “look” of a DBA WW2 game, as I’m not sure how the elements would group together in a realistic manner. Keep safe & take care, Geoff The pictures on my web page are old ones. The game depicted there was played using PZII rules. Being 2mm I use 40mm bases and place 2 x Infantry units per base, 3 x Tanks per base. I found units grouped well in the DBA version. Groups do not stay groups long, as units retreat etc. Also I had an Infantry base grouped with a tank base, As they advanced towards some soft going (Farm land with hedges etc) I moved the Infantry ahead to clear the way for the Tanks. Just as well I did as at the edge of the farm was a hidden base of self-propelled anti-tank guns which the Infantry knocked out. If the tanks had blundered ahead "Goodnight Vienna! The Fat Lady sings!" for the tanks.

I have come across references to a DBA variant for WW2. I believe there is a DBA and a HoTT version but for the life of me I cannot find either. Does anyone know of these? I have a 2mm German and British army kicking their heels in the barracks. All the rules I have used so far for them are just too complex, such things as if you fire an anti tank shell at a Panzer on a Thursday with a cross wind of 5mph and a roll of 6 you hit it! If it's before tea time and the gunner isn't on a fag break you destroy it! Give me DBA anytime! I have a couple of versions downloaded long ago. You seem to have rather tactical rules; I would suggest a somewhat higher level. I can email you what I have but I have never tried them so cannot comment on their utility. Thanks email messaged to you

Some really great ideas here. I did try Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames and they worked okay with 2mm. I use bases 40mm x 20mm with 3 x tanks or 2 x Infantry strips mounted on them. What size of table and movement rates did you use for OHW with 2mm? Was it still a 3’ table, and 12” firing range, or did you go to eg centimetres? I used 3@ table and kept the inches. That I believe may have been a mistake.

Like the sound of HoTT

Following on from the Marian Roman Helmets thread, I began wondering about my EIR Cavalry. I have them in steel with red shields to match the red shields of the Legionaries. My Auxilia are in grey with grey shields and steel helmets which I will very shortly be painting bronze.
I would like to change the cavalry shield colours, any good suggestions and also would they have had bronze helmets as I believe Roman Cavalry were mainly auxiliaries?
Any suggestions as to colour for the auxilia troops, grey does seem a bit dull?

Auxilia are mentioned as wearing bronze helmets well into 2nd C. AD., by the way. So should the Auxiliary cohorts in my Early Imperial Roman army be wearing Bronze helmets? Mine are currently wearing steel.

This looks good. I can see me adapting the format for other areas and eras.
