First, apologies for duplicating my earlier message. Phil Hart's website still exists and you can find it by searching for hartofwar.co.uk; I got to it by searching on hartofwar painting service. Once you get to the site type parthian in the search box and scroll down and you'll quickly come to two pics of my Parthian cataphracts. By the way, the search box is tiny; you'll find it on the top left of the screen. Good hunting!

I have a DBA army using Xyston and you can fit 4 cataphracts on a standard 40x30 base. There is a pic on line somewhere; I'll see if I can find it. The figures were painted and based for me by Phil Hart who ran a painting service called hart of war; sadly he passed away a few years ago.

Well done. I really enjoy these films especially the triples which are useful because they show how, in a condensed format, an army performs against a variety of opponents. I particularly enjoyed the Greeks at War as I have masses of hoplites but I've never used to 8Sp option. It can't be easy producing these films so full marks for sticking at it.

I'd resolve by rolling a dice: odds and the left hand Roman element turns to face with the right hand element tucking in behind, evens and the right hand Roman turns to face with the left hand tucking in behind.

Thanks for the extra recommendations. The 4D trees look very nice; pity they are closed due to Covid 19. Still I'm in no hurry.

I have no experience with Blue Moon but.... you could take a look at the QRF site (they are in UK). Click on the page for Freikorps pre 1900 and there you'll find a link to their late medieval/early renaissance ranges. The foot are the same height as Essex landsquent (I have both). Another range worth a look is Khurasan Miniatures' Italian Wars. They are based in USA so not sure what availability is like.

The mats I mentioned last year are back in stock in Lidl(UK) stores. They cost 99p, measure 40cmx60cm and come in brown or grey. The mats are ribbed which makes the brown mats great to use as plough. The grey could be used to make roads.

Spotted yesterday in a Lidl store in UK, grass mat, 1mx2m, £6.99. Top side is grass green colour (maybe a bit vivid for some tastes); underneath is dimpled (apparently to allow better drainage). Note that this is not like astroturf in that it does not have blades of grass - it is flat like the stuff that railway modellers use.

Just watched this programme and enjoyed it. I think it was on History Channel. It is about how the feature film Fury was made and includes several frank comments from US Sherman tank crew and armoured infantry. I was particularly impressed by the way they re-created tank interiors.

Does anyone know of a UK based supplier of palm trees suitable for use with 15mm figures? I've tried searching on line but no luck. Thinking of doing some armies from Near East and Middle east and thought their camps would look good with a few palms.

The Thebans (BkII/5) can have 8Sp and 4Sp. If one of their 8Sp elements is in close combat and they are lined up mutual side with one of their 4Sp, does the 8Sp get +1 from the 4Sp as well a getting +1 from rear support, giving the 8Sp a combat factor of 6 all told?
