I've developed my Goblins to be Classical Indians, Samanids and Ghaznavids, amongst others. They've been out more often in such roles than in games of HotT.

Great reports Mark. Our BBDBA game was such a close run thing. Cheers, Yes, I was so sure I had it, until those LH turned it all around (not that the knights weren't causing problems). That's what makes DBA fun, though (and my dice had been very good at the start).

I can see those Spanish on the right! They still seem a tempting target, if I can just forget their ability to withstand my attack on the day... A great game, and an excellent report. Thanks, I was very lucky that that flank fought so well; I think it almost defeated the command opposite it. Putting my warband against a pike general was probably what led to the middle command collapsing.

Better use the Ax option available under II/40 then to try this. The Numidians have very few Ax now. They used to have 3Ax as an option instead of Ps (and the Moorish list does), but now they can take two 4Ax instead of LH, which is less attractive.

Good report of the games. The Medieval Scandinavian must have been disappointing, so close... It was, but I think my dice had been pretty exceptional, so I couldn't really complain. it was a satisfyingly hard-fought game, and one that for once I took my time and wasn't rash.

I've written up my first report on my very enjoyable trip to Christchurch for Conquest. It's actually the last practice game of BBDBA before I left, facing Nick's Palmyrans. linkMy C-in-C remembered to use his +1 to avoid dying. That he had to showed I've still got some learning to do!

Thanks to Keith for running such a great tournament. A fantastic 2 days of gaming. Cheers, I'd like to second that, Keith. It was a great tournament. I enjoyed both days tremendously. Thanks for the photos. There were many great looking armies and camps used.
I found the Carthaginian camp with observation post particularly interesting. Yes, it gives a new meaning to 'held to his post'! Who exactly he was was a moving target, but I couldn't really complain about the performance of my troops; they usually did better than expected when outmatched due to unfortunate deployment choices.

I love the Magister Militum chariots, good sized horses for the chariot age. Most of my chariot armies are from them. Essex are the worst with giant medieval-sized warhorses. Old Glory 15's aren't too bad. Thanks. I think their chariots look nicer than the Gladiator ones, but the Gladiator crews are more varied. A friend had to get Chariot horses, which they sell separately, to use for his Essex chariots.

Those look great. I love the shields. I tried using pens and didn't have good results. Perhaps the pens weren't good enough quality. It didn't help that the wash dissolved them too!

The Chariot miniatures are nice figures. There are actually two poses in both the archers and spearmen, which if based alternately look fine. Thanks, I didn't know that. That makes them even more attractive. Magister Militum have confirmed these come in two poses, so I'll be going ahead with an order soon.

My Gauls are all 3Wb, they indeed recoil on ties with solid inf but they are faster and can make a better use of bad/rough going. I still don't have the sucess the german had I'd like to have stuck with that, but I wanted to use my Gauls as mercenaries for Carthaginians and Syracusans, which only allow 4Wb. Now I can't field an Ancient British army from these figures.

It is a fun army; I could offer advice on 15mm figures, but not 28mm ones.
