Thanks, guys. I've finally finished an assignment (8 minutes before the deadline), and I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the army done. I'm always impatient to see how they'll look after the wash is applied.
Then there's 9 elements of veteran Carthaginian spearmen to finish for the BBDBA army. Won't get much (even any) time to actually practice using them before Conquest in Christchurch.

That Syrian commander is amazing. Well done Thanks, it owes a lot to LBMS transfers.

The Syrians now have a commander: More pictures here: hesperiana.wordpress.com
The rest of the army is not far behind now.

Nice looking game. How did the elephants acquit themselves?

I found Ottomans a real handful in BBDBA against Pyrrhus. Their psiloi and LH are in their element against pikes and elephants! Against Lb and Art, I'd be less sure.

I thought the game went well with a challenging game for us both. Then of course, if I recall correctly, you won putting you in second place for the BBDBA section. No it was the year before; the Carthaginians had a left flank that was not happy with all your cavalry (despite Spanish auxilia fighting valiantly), but nearer the centre some psiloi caused trouble for your pike. Last year it was Pyrrhus who proved to have the superior phalanx on the day.

Someone has a long memory... Or a selective one! The rest of that battle was less memorable!

Looks interesting. I approve of psiloi facing pike!

So you're living in Melbourne now Mark? Cheers, No, in Auckland, but a friend of mine in Melbourne is coming too. It's a chance to catch up.

Nice one Mark. Any other Kiwis contemplating crossing the Ditch for CANCON? Cheers, Only an Expat in Melbourne, as far as I know.

The Syrians are nearly halfway completed, with the compulsory foot finished — their fearsome Ahdath militia and some javelinmen. More pictures are here: hesperiana.wordpress.com

I got a few Libyans for my Later Carthaginians finished, including these who seem to have escaped from Liverpool in the 60s. Some more pictures here: hesperiana.wordpress.com

Ouch! Still a lot of painting to do before then! Tell me about it! Though I have made some progress yesterday thanks to a cold and wet morning. The next batch is ready to be undercoated... Mine are all prepped and have varied amounts of paint on them, but not many are finished.
