Salutations!
I grew up near Chester, Pennsylvania, so greetings across the sea.
Since Ancients / 'the pre-gunpowder era' / before 1500 AD or CE (I ain't going to argue) is a matter of big knives and sharp sticks, slings and arrows, some monstrous beasties and infernal engines, and outrageous fortuna, it's possible to match up armies from different periods. Some people are put off by this, but it means you'll seldom lack for some competition.
If you find a group of good people playing historical miniatures... I'd rather play good people using poor rules, than the inverse.
Good luck and good gaming !

Salutations !
C&B Minis (Bob Rossi, prop.) - cbminis.com - in Massachusetts - carry most Essex 15's in the US. First-rate people to deal with, including special orders from England that I've asked them to get for me, and package that arrived minus contents. Are usually at HMGS-East conventions, have sent in orders to be picked up at con.
In other words, strongly recommend you check them out !

Salutations, everyone !
Am now 71 - 'in my prime' again. Still alive and kicking, was out gaming with 'The Tipsy Meeple' last night, played couple of games of _Citadels_, drank a bit more Rolling Rock than I really should've...
Gave final coat of spray clear to 62 elements this morn - winter's worth of painting. Photos coming. Now to finish getting the batch, that I've just finished deflashing, washed and primed.
Hope all of you and yours are staying happy, healthy and hydrated. Hope to be seeing you in Valley Forge in November

Sorry I can't help you. Would like to get some additional FiB figures sometime, but the US firm that was selling them seems not to have restocked after initial order...

Salutations !
Good to know about the FiB generals pack. Could probably use them all, one guise or another, sooner or later. But having sent 'orders big enuf to make shipping charges worthwhile' to Museum and Outpost, earlier this year, want to hold 'Grand Spring Deflashing and Priming', get 'primed figures pile' enlarged and 'raw lead mountain' shrunk, before more acquisition...

Some good news, finally. Word is that the regular Thursday Night Historical games at Maplewood Hobby are resuming.
Masks, please, until everybody's vaccinated
Message me, and I will bring rules and a couple of armies.

Salutations !
My Palmyran army project is underway, but has fallen back in my priorities list. Hope to complete it this summer. (Right now need to outstraighten some of mess in my place - or, as we say in New Jersey, a Spruce Springclean ;-) )
Have gotten Irregular's Queen Zenobia. Not that impressed. Will post picture when finished. Will pick up FiB's when I get the chance - thanks for telling me about it. If Frged in Battle had a US stockist ?
Happy Easter to one and all, Christians and heathen, and a year of health and blessings.

Anyone interested ?

Salutations, gentlefolk ! As I mentioned, sent in an order to Museum Miniatures back in January. Turned out they sent me these figures, which I didn't order (mislabeled baggies, probably). They sent replacements - the figures that I did order - post haste. So I have 16 small horsemen - 4 each of two varieties of LH and SHC, pictures linked to below - extra. ibb.co/TqPVhkMibb.co/2F10jLCibb.co/Sm6t9m9ibb.co/P41ZPgPibb.co/LrmBsj5ibb.co/kxQgPb8ibb.co/B25k9n6ibb.co/S36xysHI don't plan to paintup an Indian army in the future (just hope to finish my current lead mountain in what years I have left...) so am thinking of passing these on to someone who's made a significant charitable donation or done some volunteer work. Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks very much.

A few decades ago, I was good friends with a young lady who'd been an equestrienne in her youth, with a shelf of horse show trophies (Maybe I should have married her when I had the chance...). She invited herself along to Historicon one year, afterwards would tease me about how she'd write an article for _Cosmopolitan_ on how to pick up men at miniature wargaming conventions (wear riding clothes (look like an extra in _National Velvet_), and neg your target about his miniature horses)
Anyway, Brad Devereaux had several articles on steppe peoples in his blog recently - acoup.blog
Would also recommend JK Anderson's _Ancient Greek Horsemanship_ and the works of Ann Hyland.

Package from Museum Miniatures arrived yesterday, all present, accounted for and in good order.
More snow predicted tomorrow, so today must 'gather supplies and prepare to stand seige'.
We in ye northeastern US have had about the winter we're used to - January was actually pretty mild. Hope you folk under the extremes of Muthah Nature are doing OK.
Stay healthy, happy and hydrated !

Salutations !
Did mention my SoA membership in my Museum Miniatures order, got reply from Dave Hoyles there, "We no longer give discount to SOA, we haven’t given discount for years but they don’t seem to have removed it from their literature."
Still glad I joined. Hope they put past five years of _Slingshot_ on digital media soon.
Have not had problems accessing or posting to Forums.
