I know it's 6 weeks away, but if people could signal whether they are likely to attend, that'd be appreciated. I've got indications that we've got 10 starters so far. Be great to get that up a little higher. Confirmations, inquiries or for a list of eligible armies, please email me on mbaker@tgpublic.com.au
Cheers and happy new year, Mark

Well, even with 2 months to go, it looks like we already have 10 starters. And there's some usual suspects still missing. Should be a great comp....email me on mbaker@tgpublic.com.au if you need the eligible armies list. Cheers, Mark

Everyone is enthusiastically invited to 'Push of Pike', a themed DBA competition, pitting phalanx against phalanx. It's being held on Sunday, the 21st of February with a kick-off time of 10am.
Bring along any one of the 81 lists that include at least 4 Pike elements and no more than one Artillery (no allies....sorry).
Venue will be the Goulburn Workers Club. It's an pleasant easy drive for both Canberra and Sydney players, with food and drink available at the venue.
Up to 20 player spots are available and there's only a low $10 entry fee to cover venue hire and trophies.
Don’t pike on this opportunity……well, actually do pike and come along! Register, inquire or obtain a list of eligible armies by emailing me at mbaker@tgpublic.com.au
Cheers, Mark

David, thanks to for running another great Landwaster, and to Mark for arranging the venue. Also thanks must go to my opponents. Cheers, Gregorius the Executioner has a nice ring to it. I prefer calling him Gregorius the Likeable.

Ok.....I'll fess up....I'm taking Bosporans. They underperformed badly last outing. Time for redemption.

Good to know some folks have returned to normalcy. Yes, Tony....we are very lucky. Yesterday Australia recorded its first day in almost 5 months without a single case of community transmission.

And there is growing interest in themed tournaments here in Australia. A few weeks back, Gregorius organised a great comp where players had to field at least 4 Warband elements (and could have no more than 2 knights). Early next year, I hope to organise a comp themed around pike use. I'm sure they'll be a Wimp Wars soon.
And I endorse David's comments above - he did us all a favour in instigating the 'Magister Militum' award - it is extremely sought after. I'm guilty of choosing 'weaker' armies (Thracians, Wallachians etc) in order to be more competitive for this prize.

Great news for you guys down under. What did you have to do to break the quarantine. You must have a very big hall to fit 20 players :-). Do players need to wear masks? Hey Bob.....we have luckily been able to get this thing under control here in Australia - it helps being an island! Yesterday, for instance, in our two biggest states, we only had 3 locally acquired cases out of a population of 14.5 million. There are some restrictions and people are pretty good at hand-sanitising and social distancing but here is New South Wales, things are generally back to normal. No masks required at comps and only 2 square metres per person is required to work out how large the hall has to be..

'I am toying with the idea of an army with at least 4 Warband AND multiple Bow'
Does such a list exist, Pete?

Am I incorrect in understanding that they recoil against 3Kn on ties? And that's a very good thing if you are in a line....next round you are 4 and they are down to 2. For the reasons others have given, I love cataphracts....all the advantages of Knights without the lunacy!

Looking forward to this. As you say you are in the very early stages. But I was wondering if any thought will be given to combined shot/pike elements. I second the motion. I think it removes a lot of issues that have been raised. Good luck, Tony.
