I check both, but I will miss the old site.
Saw a game of DBA at Alvechurch (U.K.), made notes including old site etc., after looking at it, ordered rules, figures etc.

I have been thinking how to write this for Fanaticus (decided a book would be easier).
The problem of interactions is made worse the longer the period, and bigger the area.
If you start with a convenient loosely fixed point, say the first Roman (Roman Roman) army: You work out its troop types, descriptions, values and terrain. You work out the same for its opponents. From this you arrive at a set of information for a very limited period.
The next stage is opponents of the opponents, then the opponents opponents etc.
You then go to the next Roman army and repeat the process.
However this will not cover India, China etc.
You get the idea I hope.
All this bearing in mind that even with Romans at least 50% is guesswork.

Not my subject, but I suspect a book or two could be written on cavalry in the ACW.
At First Bull Run JEB Stuart made a devastating charge with a very few cavalry (circa 120 ish).
The first day at Gettysburg the cavalry dismounted and fought on foot, very successfully. From memory on the third day of Gettysburg the Confederate cavalry tried to get into the Union rear, and failed.
This gives quite a difference in numbers and tactics.

The big problem with DBA and rules of smaller sizes is the size and number of years they cover.
You have to consider cause and effect, can 4Bd be the same for Assyrians, Romans and the Wars of the Roses?
How much do we really know about armies, battles, weapons and tactics over the length of the DBA rules.
So making a change needs to be for a competition, yourself, or generally if covering a grey area, or unexpected consequence.
Be careful and never assume.

Poaching and smuggling run in three of four grandparents family's.
Grandpa Sayle did a bit of poaching, went on in the Sayle family probably into the 1970s. During WW2 he would take a catapult up onto "plumb pudding" (hill near Church Road at Dover) for rabbits, the path up was guarded by the Home Guard, if successful he would drop of a couple on the way back with the guards.

I am moving out while the house is being fully refurbished (badly in need of).
Lucky in that I have a niece living within 20 miles (32 km), two things I have found interesting, the number of DBA figures I have unpainted, more interesting that I have THREE (3) full sets of paints by different manufacturers, where I would expect one.
The field mice object to being disturbed, and I think one has left home.

Some of it looks very Carolingian? Why say Anglo-Saxon, I would normally call that England.

Never been, so no direct advice.
HOWEVER, I would suggest you look at different accounts, particularly the most recent books, you need to check where the battle was actually fought. I seem to remember a number of recent accounts placing it in a different position from older accounts.

I had Martin, but I am not sure I should, it would be an opportunity for those that never had it to get it, but if a flop it might reduce the chance of others, such as the two volume Mediaeval work being tried.

For information only, it is worth watching out for the "Crusades" book if reprinted, it did not seem to be hugely popular at the time. It covered not just the crusades, but Byzantine enemies etc., so covered a wide range. It contained an interesting section on changes from Europe to crusader armour.

I do not know of one in the U.K., so it would probably pay to go through the OLD Fanaticus sight and see what you can find.

Not particularly my subject, so the following is a guess.
I would offer the option of 3Pk or 4Pk, to be chosen at deployment. That way 3Pk or 4Pk can be chosen to suit the terrain situation.

From my own experience use a 30" or 800mm square board, it gives a better game.
