You guys are really "thinking outside the box" and that is a good thing. Any idea what the range of number of blocks on average before the tower collapses is. I know this varies by player. I could have a significant advantage in playing "Strip DBA" against Mitch since he is devoid of foot coverings. Of course that means I would actually be punished for winning.

Thanks a lot Paul, I will be really interested in seeing pictures when you get them. On the wooden carts there's a sprue like thing connecting all the carts together, this is to trick shapeways into thinking it is one item, this makes it 3x cheaper too. Which is a good thing to remember about shapeways. If you ever do start a 3 kingdoms army, let me know if you need anything particular for it. The models also could work for a lot of Chinese time periods. I'm currently trying to work on a Chinese rammed earth siege mound model, but I think tinkercad is tired of me, so I might be switching to making some 3 kingdoms historical battles soon. Anyways, thanks again, I'm looking forward to pictures. *Smiles in Lu Bu.

Battle of Mons Graupius 83AD - DBA 3.0youtu.be/SO83Zh0KeVAThis is a historical matchup battle using De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 created by Henrique Cruz, who sent this to me and wanted us to playtest it. This scenario is based on his interpretation of the events that took place when the Roman general, Agricola faced the Caledonian commander Calgacus in 83 AD. Mitch and I take turns playing each side. Well, I uploaded the file, but it says no material is compatible with the model. Materials are either not available for this model size (I tried it in the standard dimension and also at 50%.) Any clues what I need to do? I reuploaded the files, try downloading the new ones. They worked for me when I tried. Which site are you using? I'm uploading them to Shapeways and print a thing I uploaded them all to Shapeways. $1 USD goes to me, if anyone was wondering. www.shapeways.com/shops/prop-youAwesome I much prefer them already being uploaded. What is the difference between the PA12 and the standard white plastic?

paul , I found Print a Thing to be cheaper than Shapeways, but I've never printed anything from them yet. printathing.com/@tony, It's easy, just go to Shapeways, then click on get a quote, and it has a box where you can drag and drop the stl file. They have options for resizing once the stl file is uploaded. Shapeways lets you choose the material as well, I usually go for the cheapest or second to cheapest. It's like uploading a video to YouTube, just instead of a video file it is a stl file. Thank you. Sounds pretty straight forward. I had a plan to build one of these from scratch but I have enough on my plate as it is.

Those look so cool. I'll be doing the Shapeways thing here pretty soon. Thanks! Paul, let me know what the process is to get one of these printed through Shapeways. I have used them on several ocasions but not with supplying my own file. I really don't have a clue as I am a just a painter. Thanks.

We travel 14.5 hours ONE WAY to make Historicon (Florida to Pennsylvania.) Once there we might as well play/run as much stuff as possible. Honestly, taking the time off from work is the biggest problem (not that I am made of money) as it uses up almost 25% of my vacation days. Wargaming is still IMO a cheap hobby. Tony, do you and Mitch do that drive in one go or do you split it into 2 sessions and stay somewhere overnight? I'm also assuming that you share the driving. I'm at the age where a maximum of 8-9 hours driving is all that I can cope with. Armidale to Canberra, about 800 kms, takes around 9 hours driving excluding meal and comfort stops. Cheers, We do the way up in two days because leaving at 5:00 AM here put us exactly at the wrong time to go around Baltimore AND DC on that day. When we leave early on Sunday (going arounds both cities before 8:00 AM on a SUNDAY) we make it back usually by 7:00 PM same day.

Hmm, I think Simon has struggled for entrants to this year's one day event at £25. As they are charging £40 - £45 to attend a two day competition at Britcon (plus £60 - £110 for accommodation, plus parking charges,) I'm not sure that would be the best place to try? On the other hand it may limit the number of competitors to allow a format similar to the one Tony is running, if that's what the aim is. That may be a consequence of our geography. Many competitions are close enough to get there and back in a day, with enough time to have played 5 or 6 games in the day. I'm assuming that players in Australia and north America have longer journeys and, having gone all that way, are keen to maximise the number of games they can fit in. I do need to get my ass over to Historicon at some point in the near future… P Totally agree Paul, but think how much of your baggage allowance would be eaten up by all the armies you'd need to take! I must admit I'd discussed the idea of a weekend DBA or DBA/HOTT tournament with Simon, but he didn't think there would be a demand for it. (Though of course Britcon is run from Fri night to Sunday afternoon.) Also if you have between 10 -16 players, or more (which seems the usual number of entrants in the UK,) having lots of sessions of only 3 rounds could make it a bit unbalanced? Rarely do we have more than 10 players in a game. I don't remember the last time 1st and 2nd place never played each other. Also the time limit is really discouraging for new or rusty players of which there is always a fair number of. Even though these are tournaments, they are still friendly games.

Been working on gathering research for some 184 Qiang rebellion armies, and have been looking at various lines to find appropriate figures while refining lists. Other than that still working on my 3k armies, recently ordered more figures from fighting15s and Essex. Too bad little corporal has 30-40 USD for shipping to America or else I would order figures from there too. For my Former Ch'in I used Outpost Turkommen foot for the tribesmen and Nepalese archers from Kontos miniatures. These were the closest fit I could interpret from descriptions of the tribesmen being proto-tibetan and wearing their hair long. Never heard of Kontos Miniatures and just did a quick search and could not get any traction of that. Do you have a link to their site, Eddie?

Yes, on the announcement of the games but it seems that the PEL is still delayed. Any reasons given for the delay? Cheers, Personal issues? You know how slacking "volunteers" are...

Psiloi Pstupidity III - More Blind Luck - DBA 3.0youtu.be/c8VuCJzAmLMMitch, Joe and I play a series of battles using De Bellis Antiquitatis DBA 3.0 where each of the armies chosen must have at least half of the units composed of Psiloi (skirmishers.) Due to the high number of light troops these battles can swing wildly from bound to bound. We play a series of THREE battles using Blind General rules. Blind General is where you do not know how many PIPs you rolled and your opponent tell you when you run out. Here are the players and the armies they used: Joe Kohten II/39c Lusitanian w/Marian Roman allies Tony Aguilar II/67b Early Ostrogoths Mitch Harbach II/40 Numidians If you like this content, don't forget to Like and Subscribe to my channel if you not already done so.
