I am finishing my Late Polish troops. I just purchased the Essex Spartacus set for DBA 2.2. I’m sure I may need to buy a few more troops, but this is an army i’ve always wanted to play. No photos yet,.

Mike, your Spartacus army needs 1x3/4Wb (so an element of fast Wb and an element of solid Wb) representing Gauls or Germans fighting in native fashion.
That is the sum of changes to that list from 2.2 to 3
Cheers

Ah the Christmas shutdown - from lunchtime on the last working day before Christmas until New Years Day. So much promise, supposedly time to paint like there's no tomorrow for the better part of a week. And inevitably very little actually happens. Still - I did get the paints out a substantial portion of two afternoons towards the end. My Yi Dynasty Koreans received another element of Cv - they are now capable of being used on the table so long as I include the 7Hd in the mix. Two more elements of Cv and the army is done. The Ming gained an their second element of Art, another element of Cv, one of the 3Ax and one of the 4Cb. The Ming now have all their mounted completed but there is a substantial backlog of the foot. The Irish component of my Yorkist Pretender army (3x3Ax, 1x4Bd) has been added to the existing elements of 4Bd so the army is half done. The first two elements in the long haul to bring my beloved Christian Nubians up to purple compliance (1x4Bd, 1x4Bw) are also completed. This looks a lot more impressive than it actually is - all of the above elements were in a state of near completeness when I put the paints down last year realising that I should be Christmas shopping in any free time. One more project also took shape over the break. Many years ago former fanatici "Trailape" put together a Later Moorish army for my Rise of Islam campaign set - pity the poor fool who drew the 1xCv, 5xLH, 6xPs in that mix - he used Arab figures so the Ps never looked quite right but his painting and basing fu was far superior to mine. Flash forward to the arrival of the Purple book and my Later Moorish now needs 6x3Ax as alternatives to the Ps (still not making the Moors a desirable entrant to the campaign) but Trailape is no longer in Canberra. My own basing skills have come ahead quite well in recent months - thanks to using crushed white pumice and a liberal dose of Leadbear's Tufts and my painting is a little better (advice from Gregorius helps here) so I decided to convert the Moors to Andalusians - The Cv general is already there, along with 2xLH and 5xPs - leaving me to prise one LH figure off a base and stick it in between two well spaced LH to get the second Cv element. I have added some more earth (crushed pumice painted Burnt Sienna and washed over with bunt umber), rocks (from ant nests) and tufts and/or foliage so as to give me some "signature" on the bases. I just have to paint 3xSp, 1x4Cb and 1x3Kn to complete the army. The spare LH figure along with another figure cast off from my Arab Conquest army were rebased to go into my Zanj Revolt army being hastily assembled from scrap/boneyard figures. This army is about 2/3 battle ready now. I am also looking at replacing the Arab Conquest 4Wb with 4Bd figures as this army has some scraps in it and most of the Wb are spear armed. In the process I did isolate a figure with a flag and three sword wielders across 2-3 elements and promptly made up the Bd armed general option for this army. Cheers

Last night after getting the final touches to the bases of the list above I came over all lazy and rescued 5 of the Arab spearmen mentioned from the boneyard. They are now the second 5Hd element for the Zanj revolt.
Yesterday saw me do the skin tones for 5 new strips of figures as I keep on painting Ming, Yi and Christian Nubians

After a long period of in-activity due to the Festive season, but mostly due to an exausting work schedule which hopefully is slowing down over the next few weeks..I've started my next project...2 bases of camels prepped and undercoated.😊

Yesterday I completed 1xPs, 1x4Pk and 1x4Lb for the Yorkist Pretender army; 1x7Hd and 1x3Ax for the Ming Chinese and 1x4Ax and 1x1Bd for the Christian Nubians
The last two strips for the Yorkist Pretender and Yi Koreans are now in the "Being Painted" tray and the last Ming Strip is in the "Undercoated" tray. These three armies will hopefully be complete before Cancon.
Cheers

Damn! - there was that brief moment when I thought that My Korean/Ming/Yorkist Pretender Big Battle Army (With Zanj Revolt and Christian Nubian Allies) would sweep all the 12 element opponents before it by sheer weight of numbers. I need to rethink my tactics I am hoping to have a Ming with Yi allied army for Cancon Day 2 - with Day 1 still up in the air. I need to take it for another spin this weekend to see how it handles Cheers

Today's effort dealt with a minor side project in bringing my Rise of Islam set up to DBA3 code.
My Blemmye (II/55b) were upgraded sometime late last year, but they have an element of Cv with a headless horseman. Many years ago the head came off one of the Cv figures (I think they are Minifigs Numidian or Liby Phonecian Cv) when they were on lone to a friend. I came across some more packs of these figures at the MOAB Bring and Buy some time ago and have just painted the replacement figure
I have to soak the wounded figure off the base and rebase the element.
Otherwise today saw a number of strips come close to finishing and I would have loved to skive off for at least another hour - but it was not to be.
Cheers

Today the last element of Yi Dynasty Cv was completed - adding this army to my ever growing list This puts my total at 71 Fully Compliant DBA3 Armies of which 6 were unchanged from DBA2.2 to DBA3 5 were brought up to Code simply by removing elements 1 (South Welsh) was Brought up to code by shuffling elements removed from the North Welsh across to the South Welsh (Both armies had been painted and based at roughly the same time with the same basing style). 10 were purpose built for DBA3 as in I did not have the army before DBA3 came out and were raised according to the new lists 2 more were totally (Siamese) or Substantially (Medieval Vietnamese) rebuilt as part of the process of being made purple compliant leaving 47 that have had additional elements added either painted specifically or existing elements rebased to match the main army style. Out of these 47 there were 3 armies that I knew I could never match the original basing material and the whole army was rebased. I still have somewhere in the realm of 30 armies to go before operation Purple Code can declare "Mission Accomplished" Cheers
