I chose to make up separate elements for the 3Ax and the 3Pk - for the Pk I put 1-2 armoured spearmen on the base. With the Ax I cut down the length of the spear and only used unarmoured spearmen. In retrospect I should have used just the one set since this is an all or nothing option.
The Archers and Crossbowmen (4Bw and 4Cb)

The Archers as Ps - here I could use some bigger rocks
And finally the sidearm wielding Tribal Infantry (3Wb)

I spent the weekend getting figures ready for Purple Compliance.
I have two boxes divided into numerous cells and have set aside the figures needed to bring each army up to the purple code. I have all but 6 of my DBA armies either converted or with figures in the compliance box. This did require a level of soul searching and caused me to remove 5 of my older armies that were not fully complete from the active list as I cannibalised various elements from them to bring others up to full purple code.
Originally I was going to keep all the discarded elements in a boneyard and paint new elements wherever required in order to show the magnitude of the change (or in order to keep armies for if I needed to dive back into 2.2). But the sheer size of the task made me decide to shift or rebase discarded elements where it was practical. This has included the ability to build up two armies of discards that I was able to sell.
The big base fest task on Sunday was to start rebasing the discarded figures from my original Siamese army - At the end of this, with a couple of other discards and only needing to paint 1xCv and 1.5 elements of 4Ax I will have a Khmer army as a spare.
Likewise I am rebasing my Vietnamese and replacing some of the original elements. The weekend saw me rebasing the Cv, El and Ps.

Officially my Medieval Vietnamese are purple compliant now as I finished off the additional element of Cv that the new list requires
However in truth the Annamese have a long way to go. I will be replacing the 4x4Ax and have also decided to retire the plastic elephant, replacing it with an example that looks more like a South East Asian war Elly.
Likewise the court army (4Bd, 4Cv, 4Bw) are being re-done and the whole army is undergoing a rebasing process in keeping with the way I base my figures now (see the Nan Chao above)

Halfway through completing six elements of Bagdad Buyid infantry (Ax and Bw). I have five previously painted figures to make the religious fanatics (5Hd), these need basing.
‘Armies of the Dark Ages’ describes Dailami shields as brightly painted. This lead me to a Google search of Arab shield patterns which brought some interesting possibilities.

Currently working on eight stands of 1st Crusade Christian Spearmen (mix of Old Glory, Essex and Khurasan 15mm) for a Field of Glory Campaign project. I will try and post some pictures when I get these done.

Thanks Greg,
The army has acquitted itself well under the command of Gary Moriarty who is currently leading the campaign by a very healthy prestige margin.
In the most recent session he did suffer some reverses but it remains to be seen if he weathers the storm of what remains of the current year and in doing so can rebuild to a full strength army. After that I predict a Nan Chao resurgence, possibly at the expense of my beloved Sung

Four auxilia, two bow and one fast horde are painted bringing me over the halfway mark for the Baghdad Buyid. Tomorrow I will start the mounted units. These are mounted on plinths so it will be easier to paint shield patterns.
