Well it only took almost all day for YouTube to process this but FINALLY it is out. Classical Jewish Battles - DBA 3.0youtu.be/4ndUJnxLBzMA very interesting set of battles Tony, and it’s nice to see Ps & Ax holding their own, and even defeating, heavier opponents...apart from that last battle against Rome. Speaking of that last battle, a few minor observations:- At one point a Blade scored equal against a fast Horde: fast foot should recoil from solid foot on an equal score. Secondly, Tony’s solid Auxilia facing the Roman Cavalry: the Aux were on a road, so could have advanced into contact with the Cav for no PIP’s (which might have helped considering Tony rolled three ‘1’s’ in a row for PIP’s!) I don’t know if you’ve done it before, but a suggestion for future matches is to use Cities. Many players dislike these, but they’re in the rules, and can make interesting engagements. Say three battles with six different armies, and the defender must have a City BUA. (You could even call it “Six in the City”...with the appropriate music of course... )

It is almost more likely to happen on these late evening games. We will see about cities in the future. TBH I don't use them because we don't have any of them that I feel particular proud of how they look and I have other projects that are more pressing. There was one used in a few of the battles that we filmed last night (and probably got a lot of the stuff wrong on - but I am not the one who chooses to use stuff that I don't know the rules on very well.) I think cities are OK for play balance but not very realistic (kind of like Littoral Landings.) Due to the length the video, it will be a while before that one is up. The first battle is nearly 2 hours long due to Scott placing lots of BG, a BUA and a river. Good idea on the name of the video but copyrighted music is a big no no a good way to have the video taken down.

The Truceless War Scenarios - Carthage vs. Mercenaries - DBA 3.0youtu.be/p3AwuplGYX0These are a series of scenario games created by Connor Truby using the De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 rules. These battles represent actions during The Truceless War, also known as The Mercenary War, which took place immediately after Carthage's defeat in the First Punic War. These conflicts were a result of Carthage's inability to pay the mercenary troops due to being out of funds due to the loss of the war with Rome. In these SIX games, Mitch and I play these in turn with Mitch taking the role of the Carthaginians and I the unpaid mercenaries. The six battles are as follows: The Battle of Utica - 240 BC Battle of the Bagradas River - 240 BC Navaras' Treachery - 240 BC Battle of the Saw - 238 BC The Siege of Tunis - 238 BC The Battle of Leptis Parva - 238 BC These battles consist of scenario driven victory conditions and alternate terrain setups which add some fresh air and provide six completely different situations than you might be used to. These scenarios created by Connor Truby are available as a free download in the Files section in the DBA Facebook page. Don't forget to Like and subscribe to my Youtube channel for more content.

Road to Valhalla - DBA 3.0youtu.be/uDZAhRwP-10Scott decided that he wanted to play some Vikings this week, so we take turns fighting a series of battles using De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 and each of the other players takes an army that is an enemy of them. We each take turns fighting each other so it is a total of FIVE battles. Even Don managed to make a surprise appearance after a two-year hiatus. Below are the players and the armies they played. Scott Ludwig III/40b Viking Tony Aguilar III/48 Rus Don Harting III/24b Anglo-Saxon Mitch Harbach III/52 Normans Due to catching up with Don after a long time of not seeing him, this series of games had a rowdier than usual banter (so you have been warned.) These five battles are a five-hour extravaganza and it was already almost midnight before Mitch and I played our third game so it was skipped as I needed to wake up in a few hours. Really looking forward to the Norman match up as I regularly get done over by em in DBA and Lart when I use my Vikings. Got close last time. It has gotten to the point that I don't want to play anything if it isn't being filmed. Too many unbelievable coincidences happen all the time that it would be a crime not to share them.
