Hosted by Falkirk District Wargames Club www.falkirkwargamesclub.org.uk/FDWCAboutUs.html
5 games using 5 different armies against 5 different opponents on at least 4 different tables
Armies provided being matched historical opponents in 25mm
I ran this for the first time last year and we had 10 players who all enjoyed it
None of us play that regularly so the main point is a fun days wargaming
Please contact me for further info

Sorry no, way to far north from me in the midlands, and I suspect most DBA players who go to events.
Good luck, but two days travel and a cost of about £450 too much for me.

I have decided to cancel the event as although quite a few people were interested 30/4 was not a good date for a number of them. I will have a shot at running it again next year

Ever thought of getting a table at Carronade? Limited in the time available but a possible recruiting opportunity for those interested in DBA.

Sorry that I can't make it. The format sounds very interesting. Can you tell us what army pairs you planed to use, and Their terrain. Thanks.

What's happened to the ten from last year? It would be great to go but as stated elsewhere at £400+ a wee bit expensive for a tournament.

I am on the organising committee of Carronade so no time to run games I am afraid.
Armies were (can't remember exact DBA lists but they were matched pairs of historical opponents)
100YW English v Medieval French Carolingian v Andalusian Spanish v Roman Hun v Late Imperial Roman Maurician Byzantine v Sassanid Persian Macedonian v Late Achamenid
Last year there were 5 from the Falkirk club and 5 others. From Falkirk there were only 2 of the 5 who could definitely make it and one possible. Of the 5 others only one was a probable. I had another 3 Falkirk members lined up but it was just not enough.
There were plenty of people interested in taking part but the date was just not right. Maximum numbers would have been 9 from Falkirk and 5 others. There were another 3 - 4 who had expressed an interest in the facebook event but had not taken it any further.
My absolute minimum for an event like this would be 6, but as there is always the risk of last minute drop outs I would want at least 8 at this stage, so I pulled the plug on it. We only have the hall all day on the last Sunday of the month and later dates would not work out for me. I also organise a 20th century wargaming day in September which usually gets nearer 20 participants so I will move on to planning that now.
I will try again next year and will run some Monday evening games at the club to keep interest alive.

There was also a question on terrain- I just get the first pair on each table to generate it as per the rules and leave it set up that way for the rest of the competition. I use 4 x 4 boards.

One other part of the organisation that worked quite well - the draw is set up to match people from different clubs as much as possible. The logic behind the event is to use different armies and play different people to normal.
