So figures have grown bigger and bigger over the years as we all know. I rarely venture into 28mm territory, but I think I will for War of the Roses as, ultimately, it is not much more than 15s and just as much of a pain to store Now, I own 28mm figures from Old Glory (who would be my primary supplier) for Napoleonics and I can just fit 4 figures on a 40x40mm base. So for ranked men I can get close to a 20mm frontage per model. With the animated figures of Old Glory (and other manufactures as well) do you 28mm folks find clever ways to fight everyone on a stand? Do you adjust the base sizes? Do you lessen the figure count on each stand? My thinking was to expand the frontage of my bases as I don't play against any regular opponent and it is primarily 15s in Texas from what I can tell. Plus they play 2.2+ which I would rather not if I have to drive over an hour to play! I was thinking of changing element frontage to 80mm, or just reducing the 4 figure count elements to 3 figures with the normal basing. Fast units could be represented on the base via the basing, color the basing, poses, figure layout, or, probably an easy solution, just increase the base depth a bit. This would give me more elements hmmmm What do you do?

I think that if you doing your own paired armies and are not worried about tournaments, then you can do as you wish as long as you keep things in proportion.
I have some 28mm individually bases figures for Saga and Lion Rampant. For DBA, I have some double sized 15mm scale bases (ie 8omm BWs) with cut outs for the bases. This gives me flexibility with the different game systems.
For example, a cavalry base is 80mm wide by 60mm deep.
Just an idea.
Also, if doing WoTR in 28mm, don't forget the Perry plastics!

Simon Thanks for the idea and the Perry reminder! Only problem I have with Perry is that I despise assembly and the Old Glory figures are B- to A range at very low prices with the Army Card. Heck, they aren't so bad without it either. I have SAGA vikings I thought about magnetizing since I have them on metal bases.

We still use 60mm frontages for our 28mm figures, but use increased depths: 25mm for close order, 30mm for open order. In some cases, I have increased depth of cavalry to 50mm, to prevent horse tails from breaking off from hanging over the back edge of the base. See below elements with 30mm depth:
