I found that very interesting. I have to confess I have not yet purchased DBA 3.0. I will be doing so now as another project I would like to do is Saxon V Viking and DBA 3.0 does seem from the article to be the way to go.

I have only just bought it myself and I have to say that I am impressed with the changes. I love the Dark Age Britain era. I am excited to try it out with the new rules.

That's the blog post that really convinced me to get DBA 3 and dig out my old Dark Ages armies.

I really like DBA 3.0. I have 2.2 and 2.2+, but I felt that the games could be geometric sometimes which is not exactly my favorite aspect. I did some house rules to lessen that effect, but 3.0 did that and more for me. Plus the army lists are great! There are even historical blurbs, like in the DBM books, before each list with a list of the sources used. I quite like it. But to each their own. How we like playing with our toy soldiers is the way we like I am tired of the edition wars on TMP... Which the editor just started another one for us.

I haven't built Dark Age armies but I've had the fortune of playing a number using DBA 3.0.
In my view the rules have really improved the interactions of troops in this period. The article, as with my own on hoplite warfare also on my site, have been very popular, based on visitor numbers. It's pleasing to read that people have found some of the articles on the blog interesting.
