I was wondering about ranks on this new site. Having reached the rank of Primus Pilus on the old site, I'd hate to have to start from scratch. How about if everyone carried their rank from the old site to this one?

The old site reset the post count to 0 at least once. I have a feeling that it did so a couple of times.
It is possible that there might be a lot of new people joining the new site, and, unfortunately, some of the well-known names dropping out, or at least posting less often. However, I sincerely hope that this new site continues the polite and positive atmosphere of Fanaticus.
Edit: Then again, you have the problem of people who change user-names (as I have done).

It may well be a question of everyone working up through the ranks again. I'd hate to create unnecessary work for our forum co-ordinator.

I don't think it is possible.

How about if everyone carried their rank from the old site to this one? My "rank" was reset and my original id stopped working. I think the ranking may have encouraged some spurious posting and may have been off-putting for newbies. Similarly I fail to see what the bogus IDs add - other than confusion.

Look on the bright side, we have egality and we didn't have to storm the Bastille to get it, just move forums.

Okay guys. Well, for one thing I changed my name, so it's back to buck private, as long as I don't have to go through boot camp again!
