When I resumed wargaming in the early years of this century and began playing Ancients, I wasn't sure what figures were available, so I bought a few samples from different manufacturers before deciding which to use. For my Polybian Roman army, the choice lay between Magister Militum and Essex and I eventually went with the latter. The unused Magister Militum figures are currently stored in an envelope postmarked June 2004, although that may not be the original envelope.
Last year, I chose a pack of Magister Militum Triarii as my minor place/"thank you for coming" prize at the inaugural Cold Ash Clash, which meant I had the half the figures required for another Polybian army.
I have just bought the rest of the army. (I don't actually need a fourth Polybian Roman army, but I need half an out of production army even less.)

Speaking of Huns.
At TMP are photos of Blue Moon’s Goth and Hun figures. I may purchase a few packs for the Battle of Nedao.

Blue Moon Early German infantry are the same height as Old Glory Roman auxilia. The new Sarmatian cavalry match Old Glory Roman mounted.

I got me some Gallic cavalry and armoured infantry to transform my poor Ancient British into an awesome gaul warhost.
Then put em in the cupboard and moved on to re basing the last of my Roman infantry and Greek cavalry.

Just put in a final order to Magister Militum to back fill my Early Hoplite armies so they can be used to make Kyrenean Greeks, Lydians, Paionians, Cypriot & Phoenicians etc.

You are too right there Baldie. This last lot I bought will add another 14 army lists to my collection for an £££ investment that normally delivers one to two. Plus they are very pretty figures with lots potential on the table.

Greeks the gift that keeps on giving...... Beware Greeks bearing gifts. Especially Phokians saying "We found these at Delphi".😁

Came home from our club's local convention this past weekend with a box each of Greek artillery and Tarentine horsemen for the Syracusan army that's been hovering at the edge of my to-do list for a while. (And with three or four armies ahead of them, they may be there for a while...)

I ordered a few Vallejo paints from Arcane Scenery & Miniatures at lunchtime yesterday. They were delivered with today's post.
