Seven games against Colin O'Shea, of which six were historical - 5 x DBA and 1 x Hott.
1/ Hott- Ancient Irish invaded my Sub Roman Brits. The Irish shaman and Merlin had something of a theological spat, and the Irishman's craic won the day, so Merlin departed......
Next Vortigern led the Pedyt spears into the front of massed Irish warbands, with heroic 'Arthur' and the SRB cavalry supporting on the left. Arthur was recoiled a few times, and then, in one of the most decisive bounds I've ever witnessed, the Irish counterattacked all along the line. The British crumbled, leaving just Arthur standing out of the entire army (20 points fell out of 24).
2/ My Later Carthaginians invaded vs Colin's Celtiberians. A difficult hill split our line, but we gamely sallied forth in the expectation of running down Spanish caetrati. The cavalry Spanish general and light horse supporters countered, and a see saw fight ensued. Mercenary Gallic warband in the pay of Carthage swooped down from the steep hill but were stopped in their tracks by Scutarii. Meanwhile the elephant, with Carthaginian Libyan spearmen on its flanks, was lured away from its supports by caetrati and went down in a hail of javelins (0-5 loss).
3/ My Parthians were assaulted by Hatrans, the majority of whom were archers, on a plain next to a deep river (waterway). Poor command and control dice prevented the Parthian cataphracts and horse archers from closing , and successive volleys of arrows emptied far too many saddles, including that of the Parthian commander, for a Hatran win (0-5G).
4/ My later Spartans took on Colin's Zanj Revolt. We invaded, and found a waterborne landing on our left flank. Successfully redeployed to face this threat, the hoplites countered, and also attacked the Zanj (3Bd) commander and his swordsmen bodyguard using new fangled cavalry. The enemy general fell, and a Spartan victory followed (3G-1).
5/ my Early Muslim North African army, with a Tuareg ally, invaded Colin's West Sudanese. Half his army was close packed spearmen, but these were hampered by an area of scrubland in their midst, which was quickly occupied by Berber javelinmen. At the far left of the line the Tuareg sent in their warband foot warriors to clinch the game (4-0).
6/ In a time limited rematch of game 5 we again invaded. This time fortune did NOT smile on us, and a rapid 0-5 loss followed.
Great fun, and a good selection of armies.
One point of note - WRG's DBA derived Hott fantasy rules are very handy for historical gaming, if you choose the right troop types to represent the adversaries.

PS- 7th game was Hott, Meroitic Kishites with behemoth general (El) vs Saruman and his goblin hordes- a tight game with the Meroitic commander killed in hand to hand by Saruman's sub-magician, with an eventual win of 6G-4.
