Go to carpet store and get 2 foot square piece of green indoor outdoor carpet, or green house carpet
try fabric store and get two foot square of green felt
In both cases use splashes of brown paint to give some variation
go to art supply store and get 2 foot square of foam core board and paint as needed
go to office supply store and get a tri fold display board, usually 36 by 48 inches and cut as needed.
You might have to cut to size any material you get

Baueda (Italy) do custom produce terrain mats. www.dreamsstudio.com/baueda/rtp_terrain.html
The two mats (80 cm x 160 cm) featured in my battle reports are made from "floor covering" with a rubber underside. The same material is used to make hills, roads, rivers, and other features.
The arid mat is painted (latex) medium brown and dabbled with lighter shades of brown and grey. The Mediterranean is similarly painted but coated with white glue and flocked with electrostatic grass (Noch, Busch or Heki).
Both can be rolled and stored away until the next game.
