Interested in what the 'speed' element is to the tournament?
The speed element is lost in the mists of time.  Way back in 2002 when my DBA group was encouraging me to run a tournament we discussed the nature of a particular player who might attend - said player was a master of prevarication who could present an image of not having a clue how the game worked and yet could suddenly quote chapter line and verse of the rules when it suited.  He would drag out his own turn, leaving his opponent keen to move the game on and more likely to make errors that he would pounce on.    So we initiated the following conditions by providing 2 egg timers for each table.  1) Movement is limited to 3 minutes, any PIPs unused when the egg timer runs out are wasted.  2) Shooting is then adjudicated - under DBA2.x with no third party shooting rule it can usually be dealt with quickly. 3) Combat then proceeds with a 3 minute time limit allowing the player who is choosing the order to consider, vocalise, run through options.  Any combats not determined when the three minutes are up are rolled for left to right without delay.The target of this ruling never attended and after the first two runs of Landwaster the use of the egg timers became optional.  They are still provided for tradition's sake.Cheers
