Always impressed by your presentation, where the figures, the terrain cloth, and terrain elements go together so well. Please remind me as to where in your blog you describe your painting procedure? Thanks in advance; MH

Thanks for the terrain links.
I'm also interested in how you paint the figures. Basic colors followed by a wash? My big stumbling block has always been how long I take to paint figures, and am always interested in considering a quicker method which looks good on a compatible table. I have come to realize that what I value is the overall effect, from normal viewing distance during a game.

My big stumbling block has always been how long I take to paint figures, and am always interested in considering a quicker method which looks good on a compatible table. I have come to realize that what I value is the overall effect, from normal viewing distance during a game. I mix colours, as I have only 18 pots, 9 of which are used frequently. From a white undercoat, I begin with a dark colour (breeches or tunic or shield) and later bring a lighter shade or a contrasting colour in thin brush strokes. Photo 4 of 6 illustrates this. dbagora.blogspot.com/2020/06/north-africa-and-sicily-9th-11th-century.html

Game evening tomorrow – Dark Ages.
We have two Rus, an early Polish and Northern Slav. Random selection by card could produce a Rus civil war.

Game evening tomorrow – Dark Ages. We have two Rus, an early Polish and Northern Slav. Random selection by card could produce a Rus civil war. We spent most of the evening was in conversation, but managed one game. Early Polish cavalry proved ineffective against the Rus shield wall. As the Poles floundered, Rus skirmishers turned their flank enabling a 4 – 2 victory.

Grass and tufts were added today, completing the 28 elements of Franks.
With the addition of levies/militia spear, they will become Merovingian. A new order should arrive in two or three weeks for the above and figures for Lather Visigoths.

Awaiting the delivery of figures, I decided the Franks should flex their sword arms. The campaigns of Clovis are interesting as he meets a variety of enemies. The Franks also change lists from an early period to the Merovingian one in 496. The list can be read at the blog and reports with photos will be added. dbagora.blogspot.com/2024/03/the-reign-of-chlodovech-481-511.html
