I enjoyed the article on making the Draco standards. Great use of them to identify unit types. What are your sources on the Nobades? I’d like to read more about that period. We have Auximites and Kush figures in our Feudal Castings range. Bill Hupo T&R Miniatures Bill, Wiki proved useful searching for Roman activity beyond the First Cataract. Events in the region, during the reign of each emperor (Augustus to Commodus) took time. I found only one reference to the governor of Egypt undertaking an expedition during the reign of Augustus. The history of the region during the 1st and 2nd century is vague, but events and names of kings are recorded when Christianity arrived.

Robert i need your help: in your serie of historical scenario - The Battle on the Auha 291 from 2 Desember 2016 you mention a other older battle between the Gepids and the Burgundy. The latter have being almost destroyed. Do you have more facts of that battle?

The latter have being almost destroyed. Do you have more facts of that battle? Vodnik, The earlier engagement is mentioned in passing on page 58, History of the Goths, by Herwig Wolfram. It was a crushing victory over the Burgundians as the Gepid were over confident when they met the Goths. That over confidence lost them the battle against the wily Goths ( Origo Gothicus). As modern readers, we tend to overlook the fact that ancient historians describe the barbarians as forming nations or confederations. This was far from the truth, each group, whether Alemanni, Marcomanni, Tervingi, etc, were comprised of many tribes, some led by kings. Their political outlook was divers, some became client entities of Rome, while neighbouring tribes took to plundering the empire. The conflict between the Burgundy and Gepid was over land, as the latter could not sustain themselves in the wooded hilly region, they then called home.
