...i like your interpretation of battlefields ...about the Burgundi; different tribes did fight in the battle of Catalaunian fields on both sides. Most tacts abeut the Burgundi are from Ammianus Marcellinus. Reinhold Kaiser describes the history of that people also of their the empires on former Roman land. But i do not know if there is an english translation...

Invasion of Hispania For the upcoming campaign game I have posted a timeline of historical events that took place in the period between 409 AD, the barbarian crossing of the Pyrennees to 429 AD, the Vandal leaving Hispania for Africa.
My next post will review some modifications to the campaign rule set that will take into account the restricted time period, the rivalry among the tribes and the resistance of the native population.

Historical Match Up - the Late Imperial Roman vs. Pictish
The past series of historical match ups we had overlooked the Late Imperial Roman versus its enemies. We did lightly touched on the period with the Migration to Kingdom campaign, but in the coming weeks we will put the Late Romans through their paces. We begin the series in the northern most regions of the empires to confront the Picts. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2017/11/late-imperial-roman-vs-pict.html

Historical Match Up – LIR vs. Alani The Alani appear as enemies for both Western and Eastern Roman lists.
We opted for Steppe terrain for this initial confrontation and will use arable when fighting the Eastern Roman forces later in the series.
Of the many subtle changes between the old and new version relates to the loss of the general. This no longer means the end of the game as in the older version, but battle continues with troops requiring more ‘pips’ to perform tactical movement. In some games this can be viewed as a minor blessing. dbagora.blogspot.nl/2017/11/late-imperial-roman-vs-alani.html

Nice reports.
Your LIR seem to do a bit better than my last couple of outings with them. But then at tourneys one tends to run into KN heavy armies rather more historical opponents.

Nice reports. Your LIR seem to do a bit better than my last couple of outings with them. But then at tourneys one tends to run into KN heavy armies rather more historical opponents. Of the knight heavy armies, the Sarmatian appears on the match series for Eastern Rome. The various Gothic armies do field Kn, but these are of small quantity by comparison.
The Later Moors will be posted to the blog next Tuesday.
