Jewish Revolt were completed before a brief vacation in Belgium.
Last Friday, work began on the Ancient British (60 figures). Base colours are painted, now the detailing (highlights, woad and plaid patterns) can begin.
Shields are planned for next week. No stress here.

Another collision course game is planned for next Tuesday. This time, the Principality of Novgorod takes up arms against the Duchy of Muscovy (1471).
Should be interesting as both sides are mostly cavalry.

great looking figures especially the pike blocks. who makes them? Larryr, All are Legio Heroica. Pike blocks are 7Hd better known as retinue pikemen. All 7Hd were given deeper bases to fit extra figures and the depth corresponds to two elements of pike. In action here in the Battle of Gavere. dbagora.blogspot.com/2021/01/threetests-used-standard-dba3-lists-for.htmlThanks for the reply. I'll have to get some LH at some point. Thanks for sharing!

Rome vs. the Sarmatae
The latest instalment of the Roman Tour is posted to the blog. The results were as one would expect. A rematch in double size command should prove interesting. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/07/roman-tour-sarmatae.htmlThree more matches to the series end; two are in similar format, the Later Moors and Ancient British, the last, the Jewish Revoltwill be much different.

The Jewish Revolt are complete.
Ancient British infantry are done, but woad markings will be painted later.
Tomorrow, painting the 60 shields will begin. These are separate, therefore painting chequered patterns and swirls should be easier. Tonight, our collision course game, Novgorod vs. Muscovy.

Ancient British are done and given a varnish. Fixing shields to figures and basing will be for next week. Leaving for Belgium this weekend (r & r). The 60 Ancient British have their shields. Separate shields allowed for a nice mix and match of colour. (firmly entrenched art lessons). Next step, woad designs for 30 figures.

A Clash of Cavalry
The current discussion at Fanaticus Forum to improve the light horse, prompted me to experiment with cavalry tactics. This paired the Huns and the Alani in a clash on the steppe, anno 375. A brief overview with photos can be found by following the link. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/08/a-clash-of-cavalry.html
