Hi all.
Does anyone make 15mm Phrygian infantry with the 'persian pelte shield'? I've done a search and can't find any Phrygians except with round shields.
Cheers
Ian

Blumming heck! I haven't heard the Phrygians mentioned since I was a lad in 1970s and there was much debate about the Phrygian axemen which were about only miniatures of Phrygians at time - Garrison 25mm or were they 20mm? So sonic's question got me wondering about how they looked, my first port of call was en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrygians And the first image there (source unknown but looks like Victorian drawing?) has them looking like the figure that Vodnik suggested. While second image, said to be from reconstruction at Pazarlı, Çorum, Turkey, 7th–6th centuries BC, has them looking like Greek hoplites, although in the small image the crested headgear (helmet?) is unclear to my fading eyes, (eg unclear if metal helmet with crest or leather / fabric helmet with crest like later Iberian headgear). see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrygians#/media/File:Phrygian_soldiers._Detail_from_a_reconstruction_of_a_Phrygian_building_at_Pararli,_Turkey,_7th%E2%80%936th_Centuries_BC.jpg This 'Pinterest' site has copied a source I dont recognise, but in Osprey style, showing the infantry in bronze helmets, see i.pinimg.com/474x/e1/25/a7/e125a7c72930ea8548fadf081daaca07--dark-ages-the-greeks.jpg So that opens up a lot of source possibilities for figures, albeit I no longer do 15mm purchases, so no longer sure what's out there. I’m looking at an Early Achaemenid Persian army and these were indeed the models I was considering for their 3Ax Anatolian/Caucasus troops, who included Phrygians. Several manufacturers have nice Thracians, but they aren’t exactly the same.

Would these work from Essex , as they have the pelte type shield ?
MPA60 Achaemenid Persian: Kardakes with bow, shield and raised javelin .
MPA61 Achaemenid Persian: Kardakes with bow, shield and javelin at the ready
MPA62 Achaemenid Persian: Kardakes with bow, shield and javelin, throwing

...the Phrygian are closer to Thracian then to Kardakians from Essex. But there are later Thracians with celtic shields insteat of peltas. There are any early Thracians from FOB with peltas or greek skirmishers...

Thanks everyone for the input. Sadly, these all have either round or 'normal' peltast shields. I'm wanting some with the middle horn as well. Close to the image I put at the start and the link shared by carll.

I did a phrygian army, i used badly equipped hoplites from Gladiator with phrygian helmet, inspired from Pazarli, but now i will go for a thracian style mixed with Xyston anatolian with crescent shield as in xyston you can buy shield separately.

sonic,
did you ever solve your shield dilemma?
If not a recent experiment of mine was to use milliput to make some shields. Of course its time consuming but if you were doing 12 element army it might work for you? It would be trial and error, like pressing out small balls of mixed / kneaded milliput, then cutting them to shape. Getting the detail of your shield image (other than painting it on) would be difficult without the skills of a die maker!?

PS.
Sonic,
You could use milliput to modify an existing shield of course, could require some patience. By adding that central 'horn' or an impression of it.
