Hi,
The tables of the law state that "The invader then selects a base edge [...] that is not opposite a waterway".
Does it mean than the invader may have the waterway as his own base edge? Seems odd...
Regards,
JP

Yes, the invader can land on the beach, so to speak. Think of it as a seaborne invasion. Just be careful as it can severely cramp your deployment zones.
Cheers

Seems odd... Regards, JP Possible and I have done it - only to find that the Wwy was so wide that I was unable to deploy my HCh. Probably not a good idea if your opponent has a littoral army though.

OK, thanks.
Moreover, as the littoral-defender may reserve 2-3 elements to be deployed at the start of the first bound, the defender is able to deploy some elements anywhere on the invader base edge...

I still consider myself a newbie (ok, some opponents might laugh at that...), but I have already learned a littoral landing is a trap. It's never gone well in the games I have played.

I think it's easy to get carried away with the possibilities, but maybe the best uses of littoral landings are to get more modest advantages like starting heavy troops in the outer deployment zones, or occupying key terrain elements. Trying to sneak around and nab a camp, or make a direct flank attack on your opponent's whole army with just three units... may go less well.

Nothing better than having a littoral invader; watching the defender set up to counter a landing then not doing one.😎

I think littoral landings are a double edged sword. If you use it you split up your army, and remember the romans who always said: divide et impera. (I know I won every battle in which my enemy performed a littoral landing... )
