Would have liked to get back into the DBA scene, but looking unlikely, transportation is looking a bit iffy. Ash has dragged me into Pokemon TCG competitions, and they are so much easier to access at the moment. On top of that, he is not (yet?) interested in historical wargaming. One day!

The grand finale - will the big three of Duckworth, Myers and Hodson be there to fight for the ultimate prize?? 🏆🥇😉 P That’s a point….it’s the last tournament of the League year!! I had fergotted. (Two of the three are already ‘on the list’, and I’m hopeful for the third).

Could I ask what will the knockout stages armies be or is it a big secret? Not sure…that’s in Bill’s hands, and he hasn’t told me/us yet. He has plenty of experience of picking four armies, each with a decent chance against the others.

Fourteen players are on the ‘provisional list’ so far…
I’ve emailed some of the DBA crowd who’ve been at tournaments over the last couple of years.
BUT - If you haven’t heard from me but want to attend, please message me here (via PMs), or email me if you already have my contact info. Providing me with an email address helps, so I can get updates out via a common form of communication…

The grand finale - will the big three of Duckworth, Myers and Hodson be there to fight for the ultimate prize?? 🏆🥇😉 P All three of the aforementioned combatants have ‘signed up’ (/said they’re coming), so looking good for a showdown… Sixteen names ‘on the list’ so far. 😎. Hoping for another half dozen……

This is, to quote proximocoal*, another “Shameless Plug” and a reminder for players to keep the date clear 😁… The ENGLISH DBA OPEN WILL RUN on SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER.
* Where? at the Chawton Village Hall, Alton, GU34 1SB, Hants, i.e. the venue recently used for Alton DBA. * Timings? Games from 10a.m., wrapped up by 5 pm. * Games? Plan is six games for the players making semi’s, five for the rest of us 🙃. * Free tea and coffee (well that clinches it, you’re thinking….😎).
(This event will be part of the Society of Ancients UK DBA League).
## Lindon at PAWS has arranged prizes 👍🏼👍🏼 ## Society of Ancients have helped with some very nice trophies 🙂👍🏼.
If you might be coming, but haven’t yet declared your hand, please message me via this forum , or text 07981 221687 - we could do with a clue on numbers. So far we have around 17 on the cards, but potentially 4-8 more.
* see his DBA videos of Carthaginian civil war, on youtube under MiniModelMurder.

Final Reminders - ENGLISH DBA OPEN, Sunday 13th October 2024
Hi All As I’m occupied with ‘other stuff’ until Sunday, here’s my “few last minute items” as a reminder for next Sunday’s English DBA Open.
1. Postcode - Venue. - Chawton Village Hall, Alton, Hants GU34 1SB. Use NO OTHER POSTCODE, as the ‘official’ hall postcode will take you to the far side of an uncrossable A road (ooops…). From the Greyfriars pub the hall is 75 yards to the left (as you look at the pub). 2. Bring a packed lunch - there is no reliable catering nearby. 3. Bring a written or typed ARMY LIST, with year dates. 4. Timings - registration is 09:30-09:45, aiming for a 10:00 start. We have to be out of the venue by 5 pm, but are expecting to conclude around 4:30 pm. 5. If you’re coming by train or bus, get in touch ASAP to arrange transport to the venue.
If you can’t make it…LET ME KNOW, so PAWS, the organisers, can progress the sign-on process without waiting further. My contact number is
07981 221687.
Cheers all, looking forward to seeing you on the day. Any issues, please get in touch.
Martin Smith

Today's the day. Good luck to the two dozen (or however many it turns out to be in the end).
