Neither can go through either correct?
My Lancastrians moved forward in a big block with Bows in front and Blades behind. Their cunning plan was to pepper the Yorkists with arrows then have the clankies move through their blocks and engage.... only for the general to reread the rules and realise very few units can pass through each other it seems.

The Bows can recoil through the Blades, but not voluntarily. Late medieval stuff isn’t my era, but didn’t the HYW English fight in a checkerboard with units of longbows and men at arms alternating across the front? That would be how I’d do it in DBA

Recoil backwards, but not voluntarily, no going forwards. Ta for the clarification.
I'm not sure about chequered board but maybe archers on the flanks.
I'm sure there's instances of men at arms passing through units of archers but maybe I'm wrong.

The rules state that Ps may advance and recoil through any friendly but Ps, if they stop lined up and facing the same direction.
BTW may they advance (and possibly) recoil through more than one unit? Like this:
Enemy...
Ps Bd Bd Bd => Bd Ps
