Does anyone here have a DBA historical scenario for early DBA armies to share?
A good Biblical bash-up perhaps? Or, maybe something involving Sumerians or OKE? Ideally, I'm looking for a standard (roughly) 12-element scenario, but if you have a BBDDA scenario, maybe it could be adapted for the 12-element game? I'd enjoy mounting your scenario at our group's next gathering, featuring (you guessed it) DBA's earliest armies. Thanks!

I can't offer a specific encounter but a standard 12 element DBA game between Early Egyptian I/2a and Early Libyan I/7a (using the 5Hd option) produces a remarkably balanced and interesting game. These two armies were historical opponents and fought on several occasions.

These two armies were historical opponents and fought on several occasions. Good to know. Will do. I have both of those armies, recently renovated for DBA-3. So, we'll be sure to give that match-up a go. In search of historical scenarios, I looked at adapting Mark Kyriss' DBA-1 scenario, " The Song of Deborah (Battle of Taanach, 1125 BC)", from the old Fanaticus site, for DBA-3 play, but creating all the one-off terrain alone looks quite daunting. Hopefully, someone has run a scenario for Sumerians, or other early Book-I armies s at a convention and would be willing to post details here.

Paul, I have read Herzog’s analysis (Battles of the Bible) and the Battle of Tannach should not be too difficult to revise for 3.0 uses.
1. Crop the battle area to standard 24” square board, this will eliminate the village of Tannach and one or two tributaries. 2. All marsh and swollen tributaries are a result of the rains, so marsh areas might be considered rough going until rain fall. 3. Tributaries and river are class III crossing after rain fall, but are class II at the start of the game; this negates the need to add marsh along the river. 4. The Ephraimites have torched Tannach, and are deployed at the extreme edge of the Hebrew deployment area at the start of the game. 5. The Canaanite deploy as defender facing Mount Tabor which hold six Hebrew elements plus the three Ephraimites marching from the south to join battle. 6. The remaining three Hebrew elements (Deborah and Barak) make their appearance using the same conditions as per Littoral landing. 7. Rain fall was the primary condition for the Hebrew to start the battle. The first pip score is a “1” would change plough to rough going, however, if that does not happen you may have one unhappy Hebrew player pulling his beard. You might consider a pip score of “1” at anytime during the game the deluge takes place.
Mount Tabor: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Tabor 8. The slopes of Mount Tabor, I would use the underside of any waterway piece. Paint to taste and add a few trees and rock. Done.

Robert, thanks for your thoughtful reply and very specific, practical suggestions for updating that old Mark Kyriss scenario. I looked again at his OOB. Dang! Did the Canaanites really get seven Chariots in DBA-1? (Answer: Yep.) That could be a problem too. I'll noodle around some more with this scenario and your updates to see if I can pull this off by next Wednesday. As an aside, I've been thinking about picking up that Herzog " Battles of the Bible". Sounds as if it could be really useful for scenario design, yes? -- Again, thanks.

Coverage begins with the campaigns of Joshua to Judah's last century and Chiam Herzog's part covers the Maccabean conflicts.

BTW, regarding the large number of chariots, you may have some crew dismount (replaced by) as spearmen (LCh) or blade (HCH) at time of deployment.
