A tiny question in the middle of a game occurred this afternoon and I wanted to post it here and ask for your opinion.
This is DBA 2.2 rulebook, but it is more a text interpretation matter.
Unit 1' side edge is contacted by unit A's rear corner during A's recoil.
Original text:
A recoiling element starting with enemy in any front edge contact with its flank or rear, or that recoils from shooting entirely on its rear edge unless from a BUA, or that meets enemy, impassable terrain, friends it cannot pass through or push back or any BUA or camp, or that is in a BUA or camp, is destroyed.
My interpretation of this text would be that unit 1 is destroyed aswell, reading the first quoted text.
This section...
...is quite clear.
This is where we find the discussion:
Now, since we are not native to the English language, I'd like to know your opinion about this. The construction of the sentence as I understand it would be:
or Enemy contacted on a side edge byits a recoiling or pushed-back element's rear corner
Your thoughts?
This is DBA 2.2 rulebook, but it is more a text interpretation matter.
Situation: a unit (A) recoiuls against an enemy unit (1).
Original text:
Enemy contacted on their rear edge by a recoiling or pushed-back element's rear edge or rear corner, or on a side edge by its rear corner, or on a rear corner by its rear edge, are also destroyed.
The opinion is divided in between the ones who think both units are destroyed, and the ones that think only unit A is destroyed.
It's clear unit A is destroyed:
A recoiling element starting with enemy in any front edge contact with its flank or rear, or that recoils from shooting entirely on its rear edge unless from a BUA, or that meets enemy, impassable terrain, friends it cannot pass through or push back or any BUA or camp, or that is in a BUA or camp, is destroyed.
My interpretation of this text would be that unit 1 is destroyed aswell, reading the first quoted text.

So
side edge -> enemy contacted
rear corner -> recoiling element
And so I see that unit 1 is destroyed because it is being contacted by unit A's rear corner.
