Maybe it's just me, but I feel like DBA has better readability. Largely to do with the type face, size, spacing, and especially the line length. DBA's line length is a bit long, but DBA3 has even longer line length combined with tighter type on a larger page.
Anyways. I did a bit of searching online for a DBA 1-like computer font but it's quickly becoming a needle in a haystack thing.
So I wonder whether anyone here was close enough to the DBA production back in 1990, or thereafter, to know how it was typeset and what typeface (or font, if it was set electronically) was used?
Any insight in this obscure department would be muchly appreciated

It looks like a version of Times New Roman to me, but it could be Letterpress Bold.

Thanks for your reply jeff. I agree the type in DBA looks pretty dang close to Letterpress Text Reg Bold as seen here: www.fonts.com/font/chris-costello/letterpress-text/reg-boldalbeit not an exact match (e.g., the straight leg of the capital R, and old style numerals, ...). Or were you thinking some other variant of Letterpress?

In reality, it looks like it may have been typed on a typewriter and then sent to press.
