Late Imperial Roman (307-408 CE) Western list, II/78a.
Soft Cover Rule book lists possible allies as II/40 or II/72.
List II/40 is Numidian & Early Moorish (215 BCE - 24 CE).
Hard covered book lists II/57 Later Moorish (25-696 CE) or II/72.
The time period for II/40 does not fit the Late Romans, while II/57 does cover the Late Roman era.
The DBMM army list has II/57 as an available ally and not II/40.
So it seems that the earlier, hardbacked book is correct with II/57 and the later soft covered with II/40 one is not.

There are some anomalies, indeed (and when 2.2 was reprinted, some wording was changed inadvertently…disconcerting!).
I think stevie on here was working on something to do with list/opponent discrepancies, and expect he’ll lead you to the link (once he’s back from Westminster Abbey…)
PS Welcome to Fanaticus 👍🏼👍🏼🎲🎲
