In the diagram (such as it is) below, an element of Bw is facing and shooting at the side edge of the end element of an enemy group lined up in side-to-side contact. (It doesn't really matter what they are, other than WWg or Art probably).

group vs Bw
If the Bw achieves a recoil on the end element of the group's line, what happens to it?
Does it just recoil backwards normally, even though this doesn't move it away from the Bw?

…only time there’s a direction change as a result of shooting outcome is if shooting ‘at least partially on the rear edge’, when the target does a 180, and then recoils (even then, this is often not really ‘away from’ the shooter very much).

Yes, correct. My above scenario is not something that happens frequently. I thought for a moment that if the target had to recoil 'away' from the shooter and wasn't able, it would be destroyed. But that isn't the case, so all good.
