Having an interest in post Charlemagne Europe and seeing the large pitched battle of Lechfeld in 955, I went to my purple tome with curiosity. I then discovered there is no provision for Magyar infantry in the army lists but this article clearly mentions Magyar infantry as a critical element in the battle plan of the Magyars. warfarehistorynetwork.com/article/the-battle-of-lechfeld-955-ad/ Any ideas on what type of infantry this could have been?

Maybe the Avar army III/13a might give a hint: all in all not better than 4 x 3Ax and 1 x Ps. But I'm no expert (although I own a horseshoe from the battlefield). By the way: an excellent link!

...that time the Magyar did occupy a few slavic tribes. But Lechfeld was a fast cavalry raid with no slavic support. Most slavic tribes were allied with the Bohemians...

Can it be covered through allies? Definitely. The request was for infantry and III/1c can bring 2 x 3Ax, 1 x Ps to the table. DBMM lists the option for Slav foot (3Ax and Ps) for the Magyar

Thanks for the help. In the DBMM book I noted this option is only after 896. But, I'm not a stickler on that sort of thing. The DBA lists are something I'm still getting accustomed to using and hadn't thought to look at the early Slav lists.
